What does this even mean? What do you know about what I've dealt with, or the person next to you dealt with, or what Warren ****ing Buffet dealt with? We all deal with personal tragedy or family issues. One person's family goes through war while another person has a mother that is emotionally abusive. That's the nature of life! Life, BY DEFINITION, is hard. We
all lose things we love as time goes on. Is there a single person on these boards who is over 35 years old who hasn't suffered a personal loss or a life-changing tragedy? I would bet not.
This isn't a pity party and no one wants to hear anyone else's story. Do I feel bad? Sure. Do I want you to feel bad for me? Absolutely ****ing not.

Close to a quarter of americans can't read english. How much of that was a personal choice? Does this hold true in the developing world too, or is the US uniquely meritocratic?
I don't know, but I know if I wanted to move to France I'd learn French. Call me crazy.

What about previous generations - did they get what they deserve too?
People get what they deserve. There were multiple forces at work at the same time and the world changed. My personal view is that the people who are between 20-35 years old right now are completely whack. Can't prove it, don't want to. I'm just saying they seem completely out of touch and incapable of dealing with stress. My superficial thought is because they were brought up in relative peace. People who come from stressful upbringings tend to become stress-resistant people. People who are brought up in stress-free environments become pussies.

Ok so this generation is lazier, your generation is the best one, and as you get older the good ol' days will be remembered even more fondly with your outlook on the younger generations getting bleaker.
I've never said my generation was the best one, or even all that great. You are welcome to quote me.

But still every generation has some subset who're given an easy path to success, some are given just enough so that if they're willing to work hard they can succeed, and others are drawing dead. Do you want examples? It just seems like this should be really obvious to anyone whose spent any time trying to see things from other peoples perspective.
Every generation has rich, middle class, and poor. What's the point here?
