Attorneys general of DC and Maryland to sue Trump over emoluments clause

Quote:
The lawsuit, the first of its kind brought by government entities, centers on the fact that Trump chose to retain ownership of his company when he became president. Trump said in January that he was shifting his business assets into a trust managed by his sons to eliminate potential conflicts of interests.

But D.C. Attorney General Karl A. Racine (D) and Maryland Attorney General Brian E. Frosh (D) say Trump has broken many promises to keep separate his public duties and private business interests. For one, his son Eric Trump has said the president would continue to receive regular updates about his company’s financial health.
Oh, right, that pesky Constitution...

Trump travel ban 2.0 gets slapped down again by the 9th circuit, with the extra laughs of Trump's own tweets being used against him:

Multiple Democratic candidates for political office have had to withdraw this year after threats and violence

In April, a candidate for mayor in Binghamton, NY (population 47,000) was threatened and attacked simply for running for office:

Quote:
Michael Treiman, a manager at a solar company, announced in April that he was running against Binghamton, New York, Mayor Richard David, a Republican. Treiman dropped out a week later after being threatened both online and on his property. Four hours after Treiman went on local radio to discuss his challenge, he received emails, directed at his wife and three children, expressing “heinous attempts to scare me off,” he later said. That same day, as Treiman returned home after picking up his 2-year-old and 11-month-old children from a sitter, an unidentified man in a truck yelled “liberal scumbag” and threw a full soda container that hit Treiman in the back while he was protecting his infant.
Last week Kim Weaver, running to challenge notorious racist Steve King's House seat in Iowa, withdrew after receiving death threats.

I'd say this is new, but remember, back during the Obama years Republicans were the party of "second amendment remedies" and all that. The GOP has always been full of deplorables.

Trump approval ratings in the RCP average are his lower ever. Disapproval is at 55.8. Obama's highest disapproval in 8 years was 55.6.

Ouch. This is not going well.

^ You'd never know if you watched Trump's cabinet meeting today. This is bizarre as ****:

Quote:
After his introductory remarks on Monday, the president went around the table asking for a statement from each cabinet member. One by one, they said their names and paid tribute to Mr. Trump, describing how honored they were to serve in his administration as he nodded approvingly.

“Thank you for the opportunity to serve at S.B.A.,” said Linda McMahon, the head of the Small Business Administration, touting “a new optimism” for small businesses.

Ben Carson, the housing secretary, called it “a great honor” to work for Mr. Trump, while Sonny Perdue, the agriculture secretary, offered congratulations for “the men and women you have gathered around this table.”

And amid fresh reports that his job is in danger, Reince Priebus, the chief of staff, outdid them all, telling Mr. Trump — and the assembled news cameras — that “we thank you for the opportunity and the blessing to serve your agenda.”
What in the **** is this North Korea cult of personality ****???? Seriously, is this the United States or is someone about to congratulate Trump on setting a course record at Trump National with four holes-in-one??

In comparison:

Quote:
“I ran 16 Cabinet meetings during Obama’s 1st term,” Chris Lu, former President Barack Obama’s Cabinet secretary, wrote on Twitter. “Our Cabinet was never told to sing Obama’s praises. He wanted candid advice not adulation.”
CNN has video of Trump's propaganda session here for mongidig et al to fawn over.

lawl

you leftists gotta dig deep for a story now that the whole russian conspiracy theory has been debunked
06-12-2017 , 05:09 PM
? How "deep" did anyone have to dig to find this story in which Trump basically invited cameras in for a propaganda session?

It's amazing how they just can't stop themselves from responding. There's no way to defend this, just like there's no way to defend most things Trump does, so they have to invent things like "liberals are incapable of focusing on more than one story at a time, this must mean Russia is done!"

Russia is done, goofy. Get over it OK.

Jeff Sessions is testifying tomorrow, seems weird that nobody told Congress it was "done". Oh and Trump said over the weekend he would testify under oath for Robert Mueller (lol, he's either lying or an idiot), weird that nobody told him it was "done".
06-12-2017 , 05:59 PM
They both volunteered to testify. What does that tell you?

That they've got something to hide? LOL
06-12-2017 , 06:11 PM
Most pertinent to the current conversation, it tells me that nothing is "done" as you claimed it is, lol. And even beyond their testimony, there's the fact that Robert Mueller is running an ongoing investigation, so that certainly isn't "done". Do you know what the word "done" means, Sushy?

There must be a lot of "Libtard" courts in the country, the 4th circuit slapped down the ban weeks ago!

Newt Gingrich, one month ago:

Newt Gingrich today:

Literally the only thing these people care about (whether it's politicians like Gingrich or the people posting in this thread) is giving Trump cover and protection against any possible wrongdoing, regardless of whether or not Trump is innocent.

Trump could fire Robert Mueller (which conservatives are appearing to encourage him to do with rhetoric like the above) and people like Sushy would cheer.

PPP's newest national poll finds a variety of bad news for Donald Trump in the wake of James Comey's testimony to Congress last week. 49% of voters say that they think Trump committed obstruction of justice, to just 41% who don't think he did. Only 37% of voters say they think Trump is honest, to 56% who say he's not. A majority of voters- 53%- come right out and say they consider Trump to be a liar to 41% who disagree with that characterization. And for the second month in a row we find plurality support for impeachment- 47% are in support of it to 43% who are opposed.

The regime's optimism is such a poorly manufactured narrative that you can hear their smiles creak from the weight of denial.
