I'd like a ruling here regarding Nuevo Baja rule #1. Is the kinda content-free "Ikesian" trolling quoted above still allowed in Baja? I'd really prefer that repeated spew of this kinda shiz be sanctionable.

Well, I'd say

1) It doesn't make a lot of sense to me to think that "God, Trolly you're a moran" would be OK but "God, Trolly stfu already" wouldn't be, so I don't think it makes sense to moderate random posts like that given the current understanding

2) I also don't really see how this forum could work as constituted if it had a particularly strict interpretation of what counts as "trolling", so in practice it seems like something has to be both really, really, obvious trolling (cf. Poe's Law), as well as really, really lacking in any content, in order to be modded as trolling.

I've read the conversation you're having in that thread, and I know you think of the other posters' presentation of the issues as trolling, but it seems more to me like what you mean is just that he's making really bad arguments, from which you infer that he's being intentionally disingenuous. But from a moderation perspective I'm hesitant to make those kinds of inferences too lightly. Mostly because it seems like it would collapse the other main distinction between the politics forums.

3) We need to update the rules to reflect the actual recent changes to moderation

ST, in my experience, tries essentially to wear you down with low content to no content posting mixed seldomly with a main idea, so this game of trolling and then crying about trolling, I mean, seriously?

I can easily see people telling him/her to shut up, or otherwise snapping, because the main idea is treated like a golf ball in a legendary sand trap.

Currently it's getting a light touch, if it's excessive then we might step in. It's both sides though, not just the posters you deem odious.

I'm inclined to put the 'excessive' bar lower for anything that is trying to prevent a conversation instead of a LC insult about the content.
