I think over-moderation of taboo subjects is very dangerous. I think more good can come out of shining light on malevolent opinions than by trying to suppress discussion of them. All that happens when these opinions are suppressed in this manner is that their discussion moves elsewhere, usually to an echo chamber.

I think from a business standpoint, 2+2 ought to be very careful about over-regulating discussion here. Poker is not exactly a growth industry right now. But as long as 2+2 is a great place for open discussion, I can see it surviving poker's death and morphing into something unintended. But bad moderation will kill that golden goose faster than anything else. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

2+2 is a microcosm of what's happening in society right now. This forum is absurd, as is what's happening in our society is absurd.

It's exactly why suppressing ideas and judging what people can and can't say and who is protected and which groups are vulnerable is so utterly ridiculous, and dangerous.

The most amazing thing about it is moral, intelligent, well intentioned people are totally on board with it and support it. They are literally brainwashed.

I guess this is how societies collapse. Amazing to watch, and very interesting to see how it turns out.
