Thank you for your post.
Moderation of any political forum is a significant challenge. This is true on the several political forums here on 2+2 and elsewhere. Moderation is guided by the overall goals of the forum.
In Content threads, we aim to encourage and maintain a healthy and vigorous discussion of the thread's topic. Our methods of doing so include deleting posts, giving warnings, and giving timeouts (more severe 2+2 bans would only be issued in very rare cases or when timeouts are not obeyed).
Maybe I am wrong, but it seems to me that over the few short weeks that I have joined the moderation team that the overall quality of Content threads has improved (I am taking no credit, mind you). Numerous posts have been removed, several warnings have been issued, and more than a few timeouts have been issued. And, of course, a highly tendentious discussion was shut down.
I can personally attest that the current moderation team does not have a "delete no-content posts and do nothing else" policy. While we strive for light moderation, we understand that sanctions may be required (ranging from light to severe) to achieve the goals of the forum.
If anyone sees any post that they believe violates a forum rule (in letter or in spirit), they should report the post or bring it to the attention of the moderators in some other way. Every "bad post" report is given full consideration.
