I'm going to weigh in here, just cuz the discussion is going to some extent to a high level "what do you want this forum to be?" question.

I want pure, open political discussion from both sides, without personal attacks.

So, I disagree with the left that wants viewpoints from the right deleted/banned.

I also disagree with Mongidig (and others?) who want very little moderation allowing basically unlimited personal attacks. I want personal attacks punished/deleted in whatever way reduces their prevalence.

I will add that this has nothing to do with not being able to handle it. Calling each other stupid or the f word or whatever else other pejorative you can think of is just boring. I can't stand wading through the personal attacks to try and find the actual thought presented. It's boring, and I can only read so much of that, before I just leave.

If you allow every imaginable view to be expressed the forum will very quickly turn into the most vile cesspit of racist and fascist views imaginable, with every critic of those views shouted down and effectively silenced.

I'm of the view that stupid views (racism) get beat by reasonable views being presented back to them. But, whatever, chez doesn't allow much extremism on the right anyway.

I'm of the view that we shouldn't go out of our way to give a soap box to vulgar bigots and their apologists.

I'm changing my preference in modding as well from nomodship to doing more about personal attacks, less on PC, and trolling. The P forum, trolling is unlimited, and personal attacks are unlimited depending on what your viewpoint is.

I reported Wil's post for two purposes. One, because Wil is a scumbag and he should be nuked from the forum. Two, because Chez is a scumbag and it's a lot of fun to show what a total ****ing hypocrite he is.
