The personal bull**** drives me away from this forum. Wading through it makes it a waste of my time. Then again, I think several of the libtrolls actually want us all driven away, cuz there is real discussion here.

Really? When's the last time you told mongidig that?

In what post did you make it clear to him the reasons why his posts were deleted for being un-PC and not simply for being off topic?

No. I objected to it because I didnt find it obscure at all. That's exactly how it was commonly used when I was growing up. If that's changed and I'm now wrong then I will change the ruling.

I take you disagreeing with me on this as pretty strong evidence that I'm wrong but I'd like to hear more from others (and will read up on it a bit)

Mongidig has been avoiding the forum because he objects to the PC rules. Then he comes back and has just had a batch of posts deleted. My preference is for him to post and comply with the rules but any idea he doesn't understand that he has to be PC leaves me dumbfounded.

So the answer to my question is...no, you didn't tell him. Great work you're doing here with your forum of racist asshats.

I have no doubt that Mongidig is aware of the following:

If you think he isn't aware then we disagree but in the end it doesn't matter much as the same timeouts will apply whether I correctly or incorrectly believe that he is aware.

Jalfrezis take on there being a conspiracy of me and poker and Juan all coming back is comical.

Make no mistake, I am not "back" in any real sense. I don't care to post in a forum where my posts are deleted and the conversations are steered in a certain direction. I would have participated in the gender wage gap thread but I literally can't express my views, so why bother?

There is no reason to participate because my language and my views are being curbed. I do have some satisfaction that many others feel the same way.

Carry on, feel free. Until something changes i will just be on the sidelines, if at all.

@Noodle

There was a debate a few years ago on this very subject because of Ricky Gervais https://www.theguardian.com/society/...s-mong-twitter
Quote:
... Fair comment. However, his return has marked something of a watershed for me because having written about his contribution to reducing bigotry and ignorance around disability, the language he is using on Twitter, complete with photos, has made me reconsider my opinion.

He is using the word "mong".

Anyone who is disabled or who loves someone with a disability knows what that word means because they will have heard it used about them abusively at some stage. Along with "******" and "spaz", it's a prominent verbal feature of the bullies' toolkit.

I'm 45 and I know that. Ricky Gervais is 50, so he will definitely know that – besides, he tackles the issue in an episode of Extras in which a boy with Down's syndrome is referred to as a "mongoloid".

Gervais's younger fans may justifiably claim ignorance about the word, but my 17-year-old daughter knows what it means because it was used about her sister, and she herself was called ******ed.

The reason that younger people may not have heard it is because of the excellent work done by the Down's Syndrome Association, among others, which has ensured that the word has been pretty much dropped from use....

So you can't misspell someone's name for a laugh, but clowns like 5ive can call people ****ing morons as often as they like.

It was common usage when I was growing up as well.

you have a world record of spamming headlines in the thread. now you have accused him of derailing his own thread. you sir, are a gem

I have the clear record. Lolwil etc.

chez, you should also consider that calling someone a racist, bigot, phobe, xyz'ist without providing any sort of explanation is far worse than being called a mong or middle eastern media company. its actually more offensive than being called an a-hole, moron, scumbag etc

i think if you are going to have any sort of tone policing (which i dont) then you should certainly be including serious labels like racist or bigot before yawn worthy generic stuff like ******, dbag, etc. i also think it would be nice to see those who throw around labels try to articulate an actual thought

oh and can we at least add egyptian christians to the vulnerable group list. given the other groups that are on the list, it seems very bigoted to exclude them at this point
04-10-2017 , 08:34 PM
Wait, why not be proud of your racism and bigotry?
04-10-2017 , 08:38 PM
Juan, we dont seem to be communicating very well on the 'offensive' issue. For PC purposes, there's no concern for how offended the person being called the name is. The offense is to the vulnerable group and that's actually about the harm that's done to them by prejudice and discrimination.

ok got it but as i mentioned i dont really care if theres name calling or not anyways

but dont forget to address the new vulnerable group i proposed. given your criteria and the situation at hand, the egyptian christian group is far more vulnerable than other groups you have on the list. i will give you a few moments to think it over before we start discussing if we have a case of bigotry here

also have you noticed anyone following me around like a kid that needs attention from daddy? just curious
04-10-2017 , 08:43 PM
Right, calling juan a '******' is offensive to differently-abled people for many reasons, the least of which is because the vast majority of them are smarter than him.
04-10-2017 , 08:49 PM
I feel like it's not cool to call Juan a ****** bc he really is legit mentally disabled.
