I have never spoken of eugenics. You should be banned for slander.

Clearly you have challenged him to substantiate his claim. Let's see if he does that (which may be a first for this poster) and if he doesn't then let's see what the mods do about it. Please hold the mods "feet to the fire" on this.

Annnnnd this is exactly why "deleting posts" is not a moderation strategy. It's not helping. We need to get rid of some of the more problematic posters instead.

Re: Politics v7.0 Moderation thread

In fact I would MUCH rather you not delete these posts. They are very important in making the case that there is a direct line between eugenicism/Nazism and the modern day Republican party and its mainstream beliefs.

In a now-deleted post, mongo literally said people should have to pass aptitude tests to be allowed to have children.

Are you proud of yourself for coming to mongo's defense here, adios?

I think eugenics should be allowed as a subject matter - it was seen as a credible (though controversial) idea between the wars before the Nazis racial take on it.

Question.

Is calling someone something, like a leftist, allowed if they dont own that classification and its not explained how they are that?

Re: Politics v7.0 Moderation thread

Generally if someone reports a post in a Content thread because they object to being called something then it's likely to be deleted (sometimes even if it's not reported). The Content threads are not about the posters and shoudn't become arguments about whether some label is justified or not.

Ok. It happens often and is usually meant as a personal attack but i have not seen any modding on it. So was just wondering.

It's definitely being reported about in current events:

https://newrepublic.com/article/1406...party-eugenics

Quote:
But eugenics, though discredited, has never been abandoned. In fact, the most powerful people in America appear to enthusiastically embrace the idea that humans can be divided into inherently superior and inferior specimens and treated accordingly. “You have to be born lucky,” President Donald Trump told Oprah Winfrey in 1988, “in the sense that you have to have the right genes.” His biographer Michael D’Antonio explained to Frontline that Trump and his family subscribe “to a racehorse theory of human development. They believe that there are superior people and that if you put together the genes of a superior woman and a superior man, you get a superior offspring.”

Personally I don't think Breitbart readers are going to decide whether or not to post here based on this forum's position regarding linking from their site. What the ban does however is prevent the views of Breitbart being challenged by reference to their own source material. So you can have Marn and wil suggest that Breitbart is a reputable news source and the rest of us unable to demonstrate how it peddles fiction with reference to the **** that they publish.
I almost never read Breitbart, it honestly seems like a tabloid in style. But like I said before, they do have some real value though. Sometimes 100% true and relevant news stories regarding immigration in Sweden are reported on Breitbart and ignored by other mainstream media, that alone makes them valuable for me as a tool to cite current events from my country in the English language.

No I am ashamed happy now? Actually I didn't come to his defense though. I just want to see 5ive's substantiation on his eugenics claim. Rules are rules. If you have an opinion and you are challenged you are supposed to substantiate it according to chez. So I am challenging you now to provide evidence that I advocate eugenics. I am sure chez will be deleting your post when you can't provide one.

I would like to say that I believe these people when they say they don't read Breitbart.

I think it's quite clear that they simply post the first article on google with a headline that agrees with them.

I must say, chez is doing a better job of modding this forum than trump is doing as president. Chez/whosnext 2020!

I don't know what you are babbling about. chez has rule that opinions when challenged need to be substantiated. moonidig challenged 5ive and it is s pretty nasty claim by 5ive. Plus an ad hominem from you. Do you feel ashamed now as a moderator for making an ad hominem attack?
Adios, you have the rules wrong in two respects:

1) The rule is to cite or move on when challenged. There is no requirement to substantiate although that's good too.

2) Content threads are not about the posters. The cite rule doesn't apply at all for claims about posters - any objected to claims should be reported rather than responded to.

2. The forum will have a PC bias. This isn't censorship of ideas. It means posters making an effort to avoid offence to vulnerable groups. Some very extreme topics won't be allowed but in general if there's some political merit to the topic then it's welcome in this forum. What is or isn't PC will change with time - discussion about it will be welcome.
Why will you clarify that rule but not the PC rule? You even gave a numbered list. Do this for the PC rule.

How specifically does linking to Breitbart violate the PC rule?

The PC bias:

1) posters have to make an effort to avoid offence to vulnerable groups.

2) Some very extreme topics won't be allowed

3) Links to some sites are banned

4) Anything else considered necessary to keep the forum along PC lines.

These rules require judgments to be made. Discussion is welcome but at any time the mods decide where the lines are. These lines may move with time and may be very specific or somewhat vague.

You got it all mixed up, way off. First rule is "thou shalt have no other mods before me." And then nine more of whatever.

Do we agree that the bolded is the premise? ie. vulnerable groups are vulnerable, so posters have to make an effort to avoid offense to them.

What I mean is, what is the premise behind the rule? Is the premise

"there are vulnerable groups who need to be protected, therefor this rule exists with X arguments"?

PC bias is a conclusion. This forum will have a PC bias, because premise.

What is the premise? Why does the rule exist? What specific issue does it aim to address?

Did I get a post deleted for asking Juan to list the pronouns that he thinks will confuse him?

It was deleted but only because I deleted Juan's post that you were responding to. I'll undelete it if you want.

Re: Politics v7.0 Moderation thread

I've posted the same again pretty much, but since you've left Juan's amazement and claim as to the many pronouns that are going to be needed, it makes no sense to delete a very reasonable response that doesn't even come close to a rule violation.

Meanwhile, you skim over the parts of the page where MTF trans persons are referred to as "males in dresses".

This is just you at your best, Chez. Delete my posts for nothing, let anything actually non-PC go without so much as a comment.
