Surely referring to people by the color of their skin or race in an insulting manner is racism, is it not? Or does it only apply to certain colors, in your view?

I find it far more helpful to stick to the PC approach. That is a wider net than judging things racist/etc and removes the need to be judgemental about people in a way that I don't think is useful and makes progress harder.

I'm not overly concerned with what is past. If it's not repeated then I will be very happy. If it gets repeated less often or the language becomes less offensive then that's good solid progress too. Progress is the aim, I will mostly leave the judgments to others.

That doesn't mean that I don't make such judgements but over the years I have come to the very considered view that it's a mistaken approach to be overly judgmental except when it's for entertainment or absolutely necessary.
