In the past, TheDuker has rounded up posting stats between both politics forums (2016, 2014). I always enjoy this sort of thing, so I decided to do my own version, although for now it's for P7 only. I might do a main forum version later.

4. Commonly Used Words

I parsed each post (not counting quotes) into words, then stemmed each word (with the Porter stemming algorithm) so that common endings are ignored, and counted up the number of times each stem occurred, ignoring some common words. Stemming means basically that all of "moderate", "moderation", and "moderating" will all count as the same word. I've further filtered the results to remove some pretty boring common words that I didn't have in my stopwords list.

Something's broke if I'm easy to understand. It should read all my edits.

It's a pretty shallow way of evaluating difficulty. If you post short sentences with monosyllabic words it will say you are easy to understand. Even if those sentences are complete gibberish :P

When you hire a substandard programmer, you get substandard results. Hence, I've updated the word count data because there was a bug that caused some posts to get processed multiple times. It had a small effect on the results.

I found the bug because I realized (with an assist by goofy) that it might be more interesting to look at popular words based on the percentage of posts the words appear in, rather than the percentage of the total number of words posted. However, the list is mostly the same, but the percentages are more interesting
