If we can just imagine harder, then, finally, AC will make sense!

Politics is by definition a field that deals almost exclusively in the real world. Speculative fiction is found under a totally different classification of the Dewey Decimal System.

While the real world is certainly to blame for most of the problem, things like Food Deserts can be created on any given day.

Seems like we used to have hypothetical threads/tangents where we could discuss the philosophy and ethics behind our political beliefs and thoughts.

Like all of my politarding for the last year has been reduced to getting my Two Minutes Hate from the Law and Order thread.

Totally agree with the bolded. Unfortunately, for the last couple of years every time you personally have tried to start a thread or tangent like that you've got "God you are so ****ing stupid. Try reading a ****ing book!!"

It already makes sense, no imagination required for that.

At least you have had the honesty to make fairly clear your input is aimed at disrupting discussion because you don't want the discussion.

Isn't the main argument against AC that I'd win and the rest of you would whine and decide that it wasn't a good idea and gang up to make laws to control my power?

(not necessarily me, of course.)

Some dynamic equilibrium is quite possible just like for democracy. The instability of AC is the argument I put to ACers but even if true it doesn't mean AC can't persist for a long time and stable or not (and good idea or not) it still makes sense. Democracy may well not be stable either.

Obviously zigzag could just mean it's a bad idea to do it, that's a perfectly reasonable argument to make (and I'd agree) but that's no reason not to have the argument.

That's pretty much just Fly. The rest is usually "The world is like, complicated man, QED".

"Which fantasy government form would be totes awesome if we lived in magical unicorn land" is as enthralling a thread as a "which supermodel would you super like to have sex with" thread

And every bit as relevant to politics as the latter

But less relevant than "what pseudonymous person on the internet is totally a racist?" and "Here's some clickbaity anecdote about an outlier event, let's use it to sustain confirmation bias!"

Well if the thread doesn't interest you just don't click on it. Hopefully it's accurately titled.

My arguments against AC probably begin with a refusal to accept the notion of self-ownership.

The latter thread would be significantly more enthralling if it had sufficient pics.

So, you believe people are owned by society or government?

If you want to wax poetic about the wonderful wonders of AC land and the evil statists who stop us from getting there, there's already a thread here on the subject, or you're welcome to start one in Alta. Doing so in the Bad Posters thread makes you a pretty Bad Poster.

I believe people are unowned entities.

I don't believe in the wonderful wonders of ACland so I never wax poetical about it and I'm very much an 'evil statist'.

It's small beer compared to your other recent effort in this thread but you should seriously consider yourself when deciding who you think is a bad poster.

Yes, and that's code for people being owned by society/government.

He cracked the code, guys!

The concept of "ownership" can only apply in societies anyway. You "own" things only if other people agree that you own them.

I think wookie would like us bad posters to discuss this somewhere else.

He even has a point which stands apart from the rest of his post.

Meh. His powers are useless here. Do what you want.

His powers are irrelevant but he actually had a point.

ITT basically stupid people continue to object to being told they're stupid after they post very stupid things.

Really sucks when somebody opens a door and ruins your echo chamber huh?
11-24-2014 , 02:04 PM
Sounds about right.

Tell us more about how terrible echo chambers are Didsy.

You're as hypocritical as you are utterly repugnant.

You're right. We wouldn't want to disrupt the truly gripping Dids/Dibs back and forth. Mea Maxima Culpa.
