It looks like a guess, but you finally said something that wasn't just flat out wrong about soccer. Yes, the US is almost automatically in the group of death. However, you are wrong as to why. We are favorites (over any other country in the world) to be in the group of death because we are the most dominate team in our pot for the WC drawing. This is mainly due to our week region and the region (asia) we get placed in a pot with.

they beat spain in the last world cup cycle. You don't get 50 games a year against elite teams in international soccer tard. We play, 1, maybe 2, seriously competitive games against Europe every four years.

It's not like the US is dominant playing against the third world countries we normally play. We get beaten on the reg by ****ty countries like Equador or Costa Rica or whatever.

I don't think we've ever played a competitive game against ecuador and we've dominated CONCACAF for the past three cycles...

Ikes, why are we still responding to this clown?

rofl yeah we sure showed Turks and Caicos who's boss!

If the US played in a real conference we wouldn't even qualify for the World Cup.

It's funny how different the attitudes are towards international soccer around the world. A British friend of mine who is a huge Man U fan roots against the English team every game because he doesn't want any of his team injured playing in "pointless" international competition.

No idea how far this goes, but the US might be the exception in that Americans root for the national team first, typically, unlike my friend and presumably many others.

Sample size. I hope you don't really believe what you just said. There is a reason so many people go to the World Cup and its not because they enjoy watching pointless soccer.

I made this post before I read this linked article, but Donovan is thinking the same thing I was:

"The reason it's the group of death is because we are in it," he said. "In the past, it would have been a relatively easier group for Germany or Ghana or Portugal because they had us in it. But now, because we are in it, it makes it one of the most difficult groups in the tournament."

The U.S. isn't terrible like they used to be. Not as good as Western European or South American teams, but there are some really amazing teams in those places.

The big difference is in these countries kids play soccer from the time they can walk. Things start getting real serious from 5-7 years old for the most talented kids.

Senorkeed, terrible performance.

USA Soccer: Not Terrible Anymore!

Kind of catchy

Well, the good thing at least is that you're posting in a poker forum with tons of people who can help you with your failure to grasp how statistics works.

But no matter the results for USA in the World Cup there will be lulz. If we get crushed in the play in games, lol USA soccer fanboys, lol Lando Donovan. But then if the US actually does well foreigners will be increasingly butthurt. Like imagine if the US makes it out and Germany doesn't. Ahahahahahaha.

And if the US actually wins? Omg that would be amazing. The average American would be all "oh that's nice. Hopefully we can win again next year!" And then all the US soccer tards would wait for the national soccer league to explode in popularity but its revenues would hold steady at ~5% of the nhl's.
