Being 6'3" with world class speed and freakish body control has to help though right? Seems like NFL wide receiver body types would be pretty elite at forward if they got the skills at a young age. But right now soccer players in America are second rate athletes who couldn't make the high school football team.

The ability to make the ball do what you want is far more important and far harder than other sports.

And I have no idea who this Lionel messy is but Americans don't want to see 5'7" fairies lightly jogging for two hours, they want to see 300+ pound men trying to destroy each other

I'm sure that's what second class athletes like to tell themselves

I'm hearing that this Ronaldo character may be hurt for USA-Portugal game.

Is he any good?

I reckon so.

Nope. Not surprising. I really don't get all the hate on the U.S team ITT. I didn't think the U.S played well vs Ghana but that might be a good thing considering they still won.

USA is on a 4 game win streak if you count the preliminary matches. If Bradley can get his mojo back in the midfield, I think we have a decent chance against Germany and Portugal. The team is super young but I think Klinsman is good coach and knows what needs to be done at this level of soccer.

You're nuts if you think the US have a shot against Germany

Pull an upset against Portugal with no Pepe and a semi-injured Ronaldo? Maybe, but still unlikely.

Germany? Barring a miracle, no chance. Would easily be one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history and without a doubt USA's greatest ever soccer victory.

The tension is building!

We'll beat or tie Portugal and let Germany lose to Costa Rica in later stages, ez game.

Looks like mighty Germany is having some trouble with Ghana.

USA strategy seems to be giving the ball away immediately to ensure they never get caught on the counter.

We will see how well it works out for them tomorrow.

"Soccer star" seems extraordinarily generous. Before this article was written maybe 1 out of every 100,000 Americans knew who Hope Solo was?

I think that's more of just the US showcasing their extraordinarily deficient ball handling skillz
