That said, banning veils is a totally unacceptable imposition in my view. The French justified a ban by claiming preventing identification of a person is a security risk and a social hindrance but I don't buy it.
It has more to do with sectarian doctrinal interpretation and the politics of religion, than culture in my view.
I do understand the social religious pressure some individuals face. I also understand that intruding upon some individuals choices, such as choosing to submit to a divine creator, and express this choice by lifestyle is a pressure point as well.
