The idea of that forum being "good" is truly stupid. Only a moron could believe that.

So, I started this diet, and I was pretty worried that there was no way I was going to do this without drinking less, but good news! It turns out you can just eat less and it totally works out. Also I haven't had enough calories today so that means I get another glass of wine. This makes me very very happy.

Also I think the main forum is often quite good.

I mean "more protein and veggies and less carbs, lardass" is more or less the diet. But I already kind of ate that way, I just haven't been minding portion sizes. Well, we did start watching the Sopranos also and our pasta consumption approximately quintupled. Gotta have some baked ziti and a nice chianti with that.

I kind of agree with some of what you are saying here, and I think I said that in the post where I said the forum was "good".

I think there are a bunch of posters there whose blogs I would subscribe to (DVaut1 is the main example, but there are others). But as I said, I do like the back and forth of arguing with people who have radically different views than me and I do agree that those people often tend to get banned from P alpha.

Melting down had nothing to do with anything. It's the lack of perspective that is so dangerous. People lost money, dude. Some people lost big big money. I think one of the guys (dids?) Hasn't posted since that day. Some people think it's funny but I don't. I truly feel bad for some of those people. Some dude bet with his credit card. Everyone was so absolutely sure they couldn't lose they were betting money they didn't have. It's a travesty. I don't root for people to lose their money like that.

It's the groupthink. It's really bad. You can't let one way of thinking dominate discussion or people will get blindsided by events like that. The entire fiasco should be an eye-opening experience, yet what result did we see? Double down on the same thing that caused it.
