"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual." --- Thomas Jefferson

Interesting when you consider Jefferson owned hundreds of slaves. Kind of paints an ugly picture of what kinds of things may come with a society that opts for uninhibited freedom.

And why is it, again, that freedom needs to be entirely unrestrained by laws? I've been learning literally my entire life, through instruction, experience and socialization, that rules create order from chaos. I need more than, "Property, liberty and wealthy White men...Yay Anarchy!" to convince me that my lifetime of learning is fundamentally flawed in some capacity, so sorry.

If people would just be nice to each other we wouldn't need laws!

This is a fascinating thought. Imagine having the freedom to promote this notion for each individual to have for themselves in every stage of life. No real need to imagine this, we already have it. Whenever the day comes where we can say this is successful, when each individual freely knows the value of being nice for themselves, maybe we won't need laws?
