Once met a gothic-type teen who said she loved that song "bella the ghost is dead" by Peter Murphy. It did hurt a little to witness that.
Was it recently? Or even in this century? The definition of goth started getting very confused by the end of the 90's.

I have yet to decide if that makes goth-looking kids today more or less mockable than their predecessors. And I really hate any of them claiming DCD as "theirs". Although that first album was pretty damn melancholy.

Dead Can Dance is not in the same genre as Bauhaus IMO, but they do share a fanbase from my exprience as a longtime record store operator.

The teen 'bella the ghost' fan was back in the early 90's. Only they weren't widely known as goths back then, but Death Rockers. The crowd I ran with at the time affectionally refered to them as the "Boo Crew". They did seem to like the pastey white skin/ black gravity defying hair, A.K.A. the Robert Smith look.

It won't be like anything AFAICT. Whenever I think about how scary death is I think about how if people didn't die others wouldn't be able to live. I like that, because it means that I will have done something good for humanity without even trying... which, as we all know, is the best kind of 'doing something good'

The shining is awesome, so well paced IMO. Hate to sound like an old man but horror movies today are god awful. The shining is actually suspenseful. Every horror movie that comes out now is all jump scares and cgi... and for the love of god no more 'found footage' 'based on true events' or minimilist nonsense please.

Spoiler:
So to answer your question, I really don't know

Did you see the remake/prequel of The Thing? I haven't seen it, only saw the Carpenter film recently. Did you know they threw out all this work for CGI for the remake?

look at the ****ty ass CGI the studio replaced it with

**** looks so so so fake. This is what's wrong with movies today.

Truth be told, I don't think I've ever seen a better horror movie atmosphere and style than Kubrick's The Shining imo. The music, the feel, it's just amazing.

at this point they're just emo kids and hipsters with darker/heavier makeup, so any and all mockery is clearly justified and any debate over whether today's are more/less mockable should just be met with the response "**** it, they're all stupid."

I had a dream where Giz midwifed Mary giving birth to the anti-Christ. I assume it wasnt regular Jesus because instead of Mary's vagina, he came out of her butt. Also he was incredibly racist.

Sounds racist.

Kubrick is WOAT. Clockwork Orange and 2001 are awful movies.

Yes, serious.

Oh my god you have no artistic sense at all. You must be a turnip.
07-02-2013 , 10:14 PM
A Clockwork Orange is one of the greatest movies of all time. This is not up for debate.
07-02-2013 , 10:15 PM
Don't make me make death treads at you.
07-02-2013 , 10:15 PM
Yeah, the 2001 movie was terrible.

Movie has tremendous impact and influence on a film genre

terrible movie

Without 2001, there would not have been a Star Wars.

2001: 1968

Star Trek: 1966

Yup, clear causation by temporal anomaly.
