I think you're seeing a lot more actual violence perpetrated by Leftists, now just as in the past. The history of the Left is rooted in political violence (KKK, National Socialist Party of Germany, Stalin, Mao, etc...).
Do I think it's the majority of average voters, no? The majority barely care about politics to begin with. Then again, only about 1/3 of the populace wanted to fight the Revolutionary War.
