The United States criminal justice system is an embarrassment. Y'all account for roughly 5% percent of the world population - but 25% of its incarcerated people, and half of all trained lawyers (who now consume roughly 10% of your GDP). Prosecutors win 99.5% of cases, 97% of them without a trial.
