There are multiple debates on top of each other. One is how Europe is overall vs red states and blue states and the other is how Europe divides a lot like how America divides into red states and blue states.

Ikes not keeping up is standard, but I expected more from you.

There is a reason you didnt actually quote any of my posts before replying, cos all of them make various mention that there are racists, just like in all countries, but that it isnt institutionally accepted.

The difference is that in America the racists run half the states and talk about "terror mosques" and how Muslims are trying to take over and install Sharia etc.

And this is different from europe how?
07-29-2013 , 02:57 PM
The people who fret over Sharia and object to mosques don't tend to win very many elections. There's exceptions like the Front Nationale or whatever they're called now with Le Pen's daughter in charge and obviously there's the Golden Dawn, etc, but they're the exception. There's a serious media freakout every time some far-right party gets even a smell of electoral success - vide Jorg Haider about fifteen years ago.

The question to ask is how much foothold and power do the far right racists have in Europe vs the far right racists in America?

The answer is very little in Europe vs being a direct influence on many state governments and a driving force in the federal government that has the mainstream not racists running scared.

Like its bad that the BNP won a minority of council seats in Britain and Golden Dawn holds 18 seats in the Greek Parliament, of course, however just look at what the all Republican states like North Carolina, Texas, Florida and Ohio are pushing through right now in a mad dash to stop minorities from voting.

French law on secularity and conspicuous religious symbols in schools

The problem with racism in Europe is it is much less taboo.
07-29-2013 , 05:19 PM
Don't see any basis for that statement though I'm open to correction.

Was there even a thread in politics on Sergio Garcia's fried chicken joke towards Tiger? Did you or any others in this thread who cry racism constantly comment anywhere in the forums about it? If so, can you link me...

If Fuzzy Zoeller said his fried chicken joke towards Tiger in 2013, not only would it be in the politics thread less than 14 seconds after he said it, but it wouldn't go below the 2nd listing for at least a month, and probably wouldn't hit the 2nd page for at least a year. And you, and people like you would be posting in it constantly.

I know you're overstating the case simply because I actually heard about that and I avoid golf and anything related to it like I owe it money.

Well, being called a racist is the dis du jour of the day. I'm not saying you and people like you aren't against racism. Iv'e thought about it some and I think people like you who scream about it and think about it probably hourly can't stand the fact that the southerners who are in fact racist, aren't bothered by people like you who continuously call them racist.

People like you know that a lot of people (mainly in the north) fear being labeled a racist probably almost as much as they fear getting AIDS. So you can't stand the fact that people in the south whether racist or not shrug it off and go about their day when people like you call them racist.

You don't like that they are racist, but there are other reasons why you don't like southern people moreso than being racist, and if I am wrong about that, please direct me to your posts about how Sergio Garcia must secretly have a 2nd home in Mississippi.

Why would there be a thread in Politics about racism in golf?
07-29-2013 , 08:22 PM
There wasnt a thread about Paula Deen. Why would there be a thread about an even less well known d-list celebrity no one cares about?

Did you perhaps miss the post I made not ten posts ago where I point out the some French people being racist? Maybe go back and check that out?

And from what I recall about the Sergio thing, he made a sincere apology and everyone moved on. You might want to make a note of that as a super cool way to deal with these situations, as oppose to the Paula Deen route where you go out and pretend to be the victim of some PC bull**** and remind evrefybody that some of your gandaddy's most beloved possessions were black people.

OK, you have Southern BBQ, I gotta admit, that's pretty awesome.
Like, didn't this whole sequence started here with me callig a bunch of French people racist? How do you figure Trolly is giving a pass to Euro-racists?

Didn't Deen go on almost every show imaginable and apologize? I think it was more her fans saying she was a victim.

Didn't Fuzzy apologize about what he said to Tiger? The Fuzzy story was WAY bigger than the Sergio story, and that was pre-internet life.

Ok, you do say some french people are racist, but you personally don't spazz out over their racism like you do over the south racism. And it is much more than just France.

Phil - there wouldn't be a thread in politics about Deen being racist because she is a D-list celebrity being racist to unknown people. Sergio being racist, is a D- list celebrity being racist to one of the most popular people on the planet who happens to be black.

Wookie - If Fuzzy said what he said to Tiger in 2013, knowing how gigantic a story it was back in 1999 or whenever it was when he said it. My guess is there would have been a thread in politics about it. And even if I am wrong, I don't think any of you can say the Sergio story was nearly as big as the Fuzzy story.

Ok, so I was right in saying there are other reasons you don't like the south? You saying this was pretty much the point I was making. Europeans/french with their wine and Louvre are more sophisticated than people in the south

What do people in the south do? Rope? Chew tobacco? Collect guns? Go hunting? Like small government? Drink Budweiser? Bang their cousins?

So while the south and Europeans are both racist, you and many others are going to give the Europeans more of a pass on racism v.s. the South because you just don't like south people and I don't either for some of the same reasons you don't like them, and since being a labeled a racist is the ultimate worst label one can have this day in age..your going to dig into them for being racist much harder.

I mean the OP was talking about racism as to why he hates the south, but then goes to bat for Europe, without even realizing they are at the very least, in the same ballpark as far as racism goes as the south is. How does OP think like that?
07-29-2013 , 09:41 PM
racism is only one piece of the puzzle here, folks. don't forget that southerners are also fat. northerners are not as fat, although I know they've got some big ones out in California. don't know about the Euros.

Well it was more like she kinda went on TV and had a sad because her granddaddy LOST HIS SLAVES. SHE ACTUALLY WENT THERE.

“Between the death of his son and losing all the workers, he went into his barn and shot himself because he couldn’t deal with those kind of changes,” Paula said.

Not prejudiced, y'all, we just OWNED HUMAN BEINGS.

Oh gosh, yes. I hate the climate, the bugs, the romanticizing of institutionalized slavery, the religious fundamentalism, the homophobia, the economy seems to be a race to the bottom for wages, the public schools suck, etc. etc. There's plenty to hate about the South besides the overt racism.

On the plus side, you do have good BBQ and college football. And William Faulkner, you gotta give it up for Faulkner.

Phil what the **** are you talking about. The republicans aren't even comparable to the BNP/Golden Dawn/other racist political parties in Europe. You do understand that there are plenty of minority republicans, right? Including the former head of the party, multiple presidential cabinet members etc. The republican party does not actively try to disenfranchise/harm minorities the way the other political parties (though people who vote/self-identify as republican may). With the exception of weirdos like Bachman, the elected officials aren't actually racist. They just have to appease the base.

And I hate you even more for making defend the republican party, which I find deplorable in its continued kowtowing to the racist/socailly conservative element. It's just not close to the far right european political parties.
07-29-2013 , 10:33 PM
also - serious question for eurotards - it seems to me that Germany is among the least racist countries in europe (or least tolerant of racism). Like the neo-nazis may exist but they're pretty much shunned by main stream Germans, and any overt display of racism is completely against social mores and legal action is brought pretty swiftly if at all possible.

sounds like you need to re-read the OP, bro. kinda seems like you saw the word "racism" and went into a blind rage, entirely disregarding everything else it says. again, there are plenty of reasons blue states > euros > red states. racism is but one of them.
