Another way of voting in representative democracy? Another way of voting in representative democracy?

Would voting be better if your ballot was that you mark the one you least want to represent you, and the winner is the one who gets the least votes?

Wouldn't that lead to representation by the person that majority find the least objectionable? Would it affect turnout to vote? Is it the same as the current system at heart?

If you wanted to find a more effective way of electing representatives there are a couple of options. One would be to have voters rank the candidates from best to worst and have the candidate with the highest aggregate number of votes.

Another option would be to simply move towards proportional representation.

Ballots have a bunch of buttmunch third party candidates who couldn't lead a three year old to the ****ter never mind govern effectively. Trying to figure out who's the worst from the Jill Stein/Ron Paul/Vermin Supreme turd stroganoff of candidates sucks.

As someone not on the ballot, I support making me president for life

I quite like the idea of a 'None of the above' slot on the ballot, but with the following variation... At the end of the election the total number of NOTA votes are tallied and that proportion of seats are allocated to members of the public who shall be selected at random from those who have expressed an interest in being chosen.

The only criteria that would apply is hat they have not been convicted of a serious crime within the last 10 years and that they not fulfilled any paid role in a political party in the last parliament.
