why do republicans always assert that people who want things like Obamacare want freebies? The argument is not that we as a nation shouldn't pay for it.

They also call things like collecting unemployment a "freebie" when I've been paying into unemployment for decades now.

Why does a majority of those that want things like Obamacare think that they are free? Why do so many people not understand that those things are not free, not paid for by current taxpayers, and not concerned that they will only be paid for by our posterity and our posterity's lower standard of living?

Nobody, not even evil republicans, speak of unemployment or social security as a "freebie." To do so would be political suicide.

However many conservatives believe we should be able to opt-out of such programs, and should use legislation to restrict such social welfare.

The money you have been paying into things like unemployment and social security did not go into the proverbial "lockbox." Instead the money was used to pay for other things like our ridiculously gigantic military. Our posterity will be forced to pay the debt service on the money used to fund these programs as the money was already spent on planes, tanks, and our grandparents retirement.

Why has the word "posterity" fallen out of our lexicon when it seemed to be such an important word to our founders?

You just approvingly quoted someone saying those things are freebies.

The quote doesn't define "freebies."

The good Colonel is merely speaking about those social welfare recipients that believe that such programs are "free" (which is why they vote Democrat)

To insinuate that any conservative doesn't understand that these programs come at a cost to our current standard of living and the future standard of living of our posterity is to ignore the foundational principles of conservatism. (which is why they vote for conservative candidates or they stay at home)

Can you cite some statistic that shows a majority of people who want public health care think it is free? I mean, there's a large group of people here who believe in govt. health care and not a single one of them think its free.

I would offer that the same people who call them freebies (Republicans) are the same people who have imagined that all/most Democrats think it is free.

Again, you'll have to cite some source that shows this to be true. Because I have never heard an advocate of these things arguing that it is free. They are all aware that it is paid for through taxation.

It sounds like you're mostly pushing right wing fiction and stereotypes as opposed to actually representing the people who support these programs.

And yet these same evil republicans classify other social programs as freebies when they are not.

As an aside, SS has always, from the beginning gone into the U. S. treasury via bond purchases.
Originally excess SS was "invested" in specifice infrastructure bonds.

Over time congress has done away with this so now it is just government general revenue bonds at IIRC 2% or something like that.
