WPN is stealing rakeback from players

So if you particpated in a satellite, every entry in a prize pool is a buy-in plus rake. However, if you win that satellite and participate in a target tournament, you receive no rakeback from the target tournament even though you and other people covered the rake for every single ticket/entry!

TOTAL SCAM!

This is not in their terms and conditions, they say that they will consider adding it, total joke.

It was/is true as it had been brought up in the past but I thought it was fixed, guess not. What I don't know is if a player is on the vip program do they get their full points and rakeback players get nothing?

Re: WPN is stealing rakeback from players

This is something I was completely unaware of and is incredibly shady. How is this not a bigger thread, I have never heard of a site doing this. I personally will now boycott all satties because of this (unless it's not the case anymore).

WINNING TD PLEASE COMMENT IF THIS IS TRUE OR NOT.

Re: WPN is stealing rakeback from players

I haven't been playing as much as normal so don't really follow the points right now. I did win a couple of high entry seats the last couple of weeks and I don't really recall any big jump in my point scoring. It came across my mind that this could be the case. If it is, definitely should be corrected. If the entry fee is taken, points should be awarded based on your elite level. I would think/hope it is more oversight than planned shady business, though.

Yep, I'd guess it uses the same system as the free/promo tickets...which those shouldn't give rake anyway. But those won on regular real-money sats should really be changed to pay out normal rakeback/points, which is probably one of the reasons they said they're trying to overhaul the whole ticket system.

I really doubt they would spend precious development time to purposefully try and keep a tiny bit of rake from sats in such an obvious way. Even without being fixed, most of them are soft enough that a 2.7% drop in roi isn't suddenly going to make them not worth playing at all.

Given all of the mtt overlays lately, we should prolly just call it even and quit while we're ahead lol

Re: WPN is stealing rakeback from players

you wouldn't think a company would accept a $143 Amex deposit and charge you $150 and change either and then give you the runaround when it comes to a refund.

I confirmed with Amex, I have no foreign transaction fees on my card. They clearly stated, we charge you what the company charges you.

You would think it would be less hassle than 2 emails and a 30-minute phone call to resolve this, but yet, here I wait, although my situation was escalated 24 hours ago. the original deposit was on May 3rd. They very promptly responded, "hey, show us proof on your credit card statement."

I did, this was the email that followed the email I sent with proof(in an attempt to get my $7.50 refund): We hope this email finds you well, It's a pleasure for us to assist you.

We would also like to invite you to check out more information on our
promotions page by visiting the following link:
http://www.americascardroom.eu/online-poker-promotions/

Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you, we are at your service!

Kind Regards,
Matty

Neat response! that's what led to the phone call, in which i received:

We hope this emails finds you well, It's a pleasure for us to assist you.
We are sorry about the latest email, it was en error from our end, please be aware that your case has been escalated so the dept in charge can solve this ASAP.

So, as stated, I am staying patient and I am curious to see how this get's resolved. But the overcharge in the first place, followed by this customer service, circus!

Re: WPN is stealing rakeback from players

Before creating this thread I talked with ACR support and they were like ''maybe we will add this in terms and conditions, but that's it''.

WPN's reputation really dropped after this, they steal so much money this way. They already operate in US illegaly, the last thing they should do is steal money in such shady ways.

Isn't the rake for sattys generally lower anyway? Personally, I don't mind paying less on the front end and not getting anything back.

follow up: We hope this emails finds you well, It's a pleasure for us to assist you.

The extra charge of $7.64 has been credited to your account. We apologize for any delay.

As to why the original over charge, who knows? But, I am glad I was refunded as there was no mention of any fees, so in that regards, thanks WPN. But, it took too much time and energy to resolve.

Some are 5% rake, some 10%. All of the hypers seem to be 5% also from what I've seen. Add in the chance of an occasional overlay on the GTD seats and tbh we aren't really losing enough to even matter anyway. If some people decide to sit them out because of this only, they're just costing themselves potential value tbh.

Yeah and pay extra for deposit fees plus wait ages to cash out your money?
Why should players care about workarounds when money is being stolen like that?

This makes me laugh. Max provided a simple solution to a problem that I agree shouldn't exist and you are suggesting that players shouldn't care? Seems pretty dumb to brush off a way to beat the system if WPN isn't going to fix it.

Let's put it this way.
Let's say the bank owes you interest for the money you have in your savings account. But suddenly they tell you to ''go die'' and steal that from you. However, there is some workaround to claim the money that already belongs to you, but it requires some effort.

Tell me, does that make it much better, ethical and less of a scam?

I never said what WPN is doing is right but you have gone from bringing up a valid issue that needs to be corrected to complaining about a solution provided by another forum member. Since WPN doesn't appear to want fix the problem what choice do you really have?

I am not complaining about a solution, I simply said that it is not enough plus the solution was not introduced intentionally by WPN anyways.
