It hasn't overlayed once since WSOP ended. It was like $135K last week if I remember correctly.

The Sunday schedule is definitely good for mid/high stakes. It's terrible for low stakes though. It could use some worth while $33 and unders besides the $25K and $12.5K.

Goddamn....are all of the MTTs on this site like the one I played yesterday? It started at 2pm, and by 7pm only 200 players were eliminated. Add to the fact late registration lasts what like 5 hours? Lmao Jesus Christ, do you really have to play these things at least 10 hours before you make the final table? God the experience was miserable I just wanted to hang myself by the seventh hour, I think I watched 3 seasons of weeds by that point.

No, they aren't all like that.

There really should be a disclaimer or fine print like, "Super low buy in, big prizes, but be prepared to spend 14 hours playing!"

Are there any freezeouts with low price high prize? It's depressing to know this is what I've been wasting all my money on, tournaments that take half a day to even get paid minimum.

WPN doesn't believe in freeze outs, gotta go to Bovada to get a real tournament these days.

Oh well, all crappy things must come to an end at some point. I had a 50+ BB stack for the duration too, I just couldn't take it anymore. Started to get a headache and almost felt like vomiting at one point.

I mean I guess that's the reality of a "professional." Now that I've experienced it, I no longer want it. It's a gross profession at best. Can't imagine what it's like to have that as your primary source of income, literally sitting around doing nothing for 12 hours straight. Crazyness. Congrats to the inhuman people that can do it.

He does sort of have a point. It's kind of crazy a $22 tournament takes 12 hours.

It is crazy, I guess, but there are only like 2 tournaments structured like that besides the Million GTD right?

Yeah, and they are $2 and $22...... The $22 is a great value, but 12 hours is a bit over kill.

No need for a disclaimer just go to the lobby. If you see it has 5 hours of late reg and unlimited re-entry you can at least double the late entry period (or more) for how long it will last. I would play that tourney all of the time if it was a 3hr late reg, but unfortunately they can't get a tourney with that big of a prize pool with only 3hrs. But then again maybe there are a lot of other players that feel like I do (would play if late reg was shorter) and they would still get enough players to meet the gtd.

There aren't that many tournament types. Just track the starting and ending times of a couple of each and you'll know what to expect. For example, if I see "Big Ten" I know it's the type of deepstack tournament that I like to play, and being rested and ready to play 10 hours or more gives me an edge.

On the other hand, if I see a number followed by "GTD", for example, "$500 GTD" I know that the fields are small and they usually last 3-4 hours.

I think tournament analysis is very important.

Yeah I agree that often you can just scroll down to the bottom and check how long the finished mtt's took. But I've also found as a general rule of thumb that tournaments with 200+ runners usually run about twice as long as their late reg (as a ballbark figure). Obv total runners and length of levels are key factors, but generally a B10 with say 200 runners and 15m levels will last about 6 hours...a 5hr late reg with 1000 runners and 12m levels will last around 10 hours. YMMV. You can calculate pretty closely how long a mtt will last if you know those 2 variables. You reach a certain point in the levels that they dictate how long the tournament will last.

Agreed. More information is never a bad thing. If you want to go into full nerd mode you could check in on a tournament every hour and note how many people were left, average stack, as many variables as you want to track and put it on a spreadsheet.

I didn't just make all that stuff up. Some players seriously study and analyze tournament structures. There are pros that can tell you, in detail, what a 180-player tournament will look like after 1.5 hours given a certain blind and ante structure, including how play will change as stack size changes. Here is one of them, with his analysis:

I'm not playing anymore. The dream of being able to make a living playing a card game is fading. That being said, to anyone who has the time and money to play these still, the last few posts hold merit.

Determine how long a tournament, on average, lasts. These things are about survival, that's the most important thing. If you want the best chances at a worthwhile payout, you need to survive to the final table. So first determine how long on average they last, once you know, you will be able to readjust your strategy based on how much time has passed, how much is left to go, and how many chips you have relative to the blinds. Sometimes if you're really good you fold AA to an all in who has you covered holding 22, on a in hindsight flop showing a 2 and no ace.

Anyway, have fun, and good luck, bye.

You should just play heads up cash games. Play as long as you want, whenever you want, and have FUN!

Yeah sorry for being a little puss boy I'm moving into a luxury one bed apt next week and am nervous about raising the money but I should be good. I'm not supposed to be gambling until I settle in but I can squeeze ten in there since i'm avoiding girls atm and **** yeah anyway question :

Any high value $10 + 1 MTT after 6pm EST today, 8/21? Thanks. Cant check because im at work.

While that 7 hour grind was ****ty because I only won 6 dollars, which actually math wise was 3x my buyin, it was good practice for the higher stakes one. People in those are probably harder to eliminate anyway
