Anyone hear about the US Government seizure of 28 million from Silk Road? Or is that old news?

So does this mean BTC deposits are available? Since I can't see it in the cashier, is the rumor true that it is not available for USA players?
01-17-2014 , 10:57 AM
Apparently some people in Canada have them but afaik no one in the US has them available yet. Thread title needs to be changed imo.

Just to clarify. Are you saying it is only for some beta users in Canada?

No idea, but the only people who I've heard about having it aren't American. I could be wrong about all American's not having it too, I just haven't heard of any.

UPDATE: They have returned my money and were prompt. There is a timer on deposits, so for future deference, deposit the btc right away and make sure you are doing it straight from a wallet that doesn't have to calculate fees to deduce. Apparently, while they remove fees it slows down the transaction and prevents it from depositing. If you don't want a hassle remember these things!

They have been available for certain players since the moment I posted this thread (myself being one of them). Still waiting on clarification regarding the roll-out.

Get those bitcoin deposits going for US players already. I'd like to try out the network, and I'm not going to deposit any other way.

Why not? If you can only deposit and not withdrawal (at first) what would keep you from depositing another way? Genuinely curious.

On WPN you don't withdraw, you feed the Beast.
01-20-2014 , 05:42 AM
^^ Not if you play MTT's.

The debit card sounds like a reasonable way to get money out, especially if I want USD. The alternative would be withdrawing it bitcoin form, sending to coinbase, selling, and waiting for it to hit my bank account. Plus I wouldn't be withdrawing very soon after depositing anyway.

As for depositing, has anyone in the US had luck finding a Visa that works lately? Or should I send a WU or MG to a random person, against their terms of service because its for gambling, to a person I'm obviously not related to in any way imaginable. Basically this:

If the Beast is that bad I will reconsider considering depositing.

I use a Netspend card or WU. WU is really easy to use and not a big deal at all. You could also use the transfer thread on here. I'm sure you could trade BTC for WPN money no problem.

I wouldn't play under 100NL on WPN.

You can look at "the Beast" thread here. If you don't want to read the whole thing look at posts 82 + 83.

I don't play here but follow btc.

Same here. I'd love to stick with SWC, but it's hard to get enough tables at decent stakes right now. If I played on WPN it would be 50NL minimum, and hopefully higher, but I don't want to deposit a whole lot at first.

50NL is ok if you table select. Don't play below that though. I'd also try to start non Beast tables.

Full Tilt or Poker Star needs to license it's software to someone to use as a skin for bitcoin only poker. Or maybe just open their own bitcoin poker sites. If real money online poker won't be an option for the whole USA, bitcoin or equivalent only poker is the future.

I really like this idea and think you could be right if things fell in to place correctly.

I don't think the major players would touch the US as they are trying to get their foot in the door legally.

I could see a smaller European network having a bitcoin skin that allows for US players. I could also see a problem where a network wouldn't wanna have a bunch of winning players come on there. (as I think if lets say iPoker allowed US players via bitcoin skin, I think it would probably attract mostly winning players which would be bad for the site.)

Any word on whether maryland players will be allowed due to using bitcoin?
01-24-2014 , 04:07 PM
The main problem U.S. players face is being able to deposit. Banks have issues with using debit cards for such sites. Bitcoins would be viable because they are not from banks. If they are going to use Bitcoins for deposit in other countries than I would see no reason they would not allow them for U.S. players as well. They would have far less hassle dealing with the method. In my opinion this option would increase traffic thus increasing rake. Then they could possibly afford to update their software which everyone seems to be complaining about. And since it would not matter which country you reside in because bitcoins come from a wallet with a fixed address for each user which is private. It would also make bitcoins more useful to a lot of people. I just hope they provide the option to all equally instead of leaving some of us out.

I love that WPN is now accepting bitcoins as deposits the only thing is that if I go into my cashier I don't have the option to do so. Do I need to call CS and request that the option be turned on with my account or something?

I'm a US player in New York if that makes any difference.

I'm pretty sure the US players do not have this option, from my understanding it might be a select few with it right now I guess testing, and it popped into alot of people cashier but was taken off until further notice.

Check that out. I just had an extremely frustrating and irritating call with the security department. I'm tired of having to spend hours a month arguing on the phone with them just to get them to accept deposits from me. I don't want to deposit via WU or MG and I just want to use my Visa like I can for every other purchase on earth. Why is this such a challenge?
