Think they made the right call and I would've done the same, give everyone $ back that was in it, the whole tournament just had too many issues. Sucks for those that spent hours in but that's sadly standard for online poker these days. (though I would give some tournament ticket or w/e equivalent for those who were still in but even if you were chip leader, you have to realize this wasn't a fair tournament at any point; I mean people were reportedly folding AA preflop due to these issues for gosh sakes) [I don't know what amount to say b/c I don't know what tourns run]
this ipush guy is a lot more upset than reasons that would warrant that level of upset.
Poker players are always hell mad for basically whatever benefits them the most and most of them who complain don't give a **** about anything other than that. We live in a sad realm like that.
They admit they should've cancelled sooner, but it's reasonable that someone would want their big tournament they've been gearing up for to stick with as long as possible, they made a resolution with their explanation and apologized and they are in here and not hiding, it's about the best we can reasonably expect. Other places have definitely done less than that.
I agree that those still in probably should get some extra compensation (I'm not a fan of the freeroll way to do it) as I stated earlier but I don't agree that it should be based on whatever you use for equity calculations b/c the whole darn thing wasn't as fair as you could do at any point.
Ipushw8 has every reason to be mad, and you guys should stop trolling him. We were ripped off and not compensated for it. The tournament ran for 5 1/2 hours and late reg should have been over. I'm so conflicted because I like the site and tournaments, but the incompetence here is huge. Even the people that bought in 5 times got all buy ins back. Is that really fair? Don't they know the risks by the 3rd buy in? The way these poker sites are handling these ddos attacks is chasing away all the recreational players. Who's going to want to play on a site where you can put up $540 grind for 5 1/2 hours then told you get nothing for your stack worth at least 3 grand min?
If WPN doesn't do something to fix this I don't know if I can confidently grind there. As far as variance I might only win 1 big tournament my entire life, and WPN could have single-handedly just taken it from me.
-Ipushw8 you have to understand too that they made the decision they knew would please the most people, witch in turn screwed me and you. So of course there will be people on their side. This was calculated, and the rep claims they think this decision would do the most damage but was most honest. It seems like they didn't want to give out refunds for the mil to people after paying out.
They should have taken a hit of 200k or so giving buy ins back and let it finish at the point it was at. This was a money saving decision, and it would be nice if they would at least admit it. IF you want to go the honest route then you need to do something for us that were still in. Those stacks were worth money, and we prepared for this tournament, and spent a lot of time. It's like going to work all week, preparing for a big project. Working really hard on the project, then its canceled, your fired, and your not getting paid. But then people who aren't even working there get unemployment, but you don't get a paycheck because you worked to hard, and you did too well.
That's about how my experience with the 1 mil felt, except I feel ripped off more than a weeks pay, its more like spending a few months on a project, to not be paid for it.
