Table camping and WPN security concerns Table camping and WPN security concerns

10-09-2017 , 08:06 PM
A couple weeks ago I reported a player for table-blocking and constantly sitting out with no intention of playing. He will sit in and sit out to hold a seat at 6 and 9 max tables, just in case a really "fun" player sits. (He scripts to do this. I realize scripting is allowed, but table-blocking/table-camping is not.) I'd guess he plays ~15% of the time he is at a table.

I reported this to Winning_TD and he said he would look for him and take action. A couple weeks later and nothing, the player still does the same thing, every day.

I feel this is a much bigger issue than this one player camping. Does the support/security team at Winning not have the ability to check playing history? There is no reason he needs to be seen doing this, the history logs should confirm it immediately.

If something so blatant can't be detected (unless a single employee actually sees it happening), even after being reported, how can we ever have any confidence in a security department or support team? They are effectively entirely blind.

Either that, or they CAN check the logs and they just won't bother to fairly enforce the rules, even when all the info is handed right to them.

Thoughts? Winning_TD, any interest in actually following up on this player as you said you would? I reported him on the 25th of September.

Any comment on whether or not this is something your team can check on without needing to watch the tables in real time?

Thanks.

Before you sit here and think that the security team and I are useless we send a warning email when its a first offence.

However we dont sit there and look out for these things unless someone reports it

Ok, but it was over two weeks ago and he still does it every day. So if he's been warned, seems like a good time for the next step.

As far as reporting it, I reported it to you again a second time on October 3rd when nothing changed. This was a week after you said you were looking into it.

Now here we are with the thread. You can see he's doing it every day (right?), it's been reported 3 times, and he has already been warned. So, again, I think it's fair to say it's time for the next step.

Thanks.

That person sounds like a douche

No i dont have time to look to see if someone is camping. Its not something we check unless reported.

I will say its annoying as hell when a player sits at 4 to 5 table per stake and then sits out if someone sits they don't want to play. Basically only playing recs players if they sit. Messes up the lobby for those that really want to start games.

Not sure why you posted this, or what it is in response to. It has been reported, repeatedly. You know this.

If you don't have time to take care of it (as you said you would), have someone from your stellar security team do it.

He's doing it again today. Shocker. Seems like he really respects your warning and site.

Is it there actually a rule written that says camping is not allowed? If so then wouldn't a simple solution be to just have the system boot a player from a table for sitting to long?

There is a rule that if you're sitting out in a cash game for too long you get booted. Sitting at empty tables though is allowed and encouraged as that's how game starts. If I understand OP correctly, the issue is the player in question sits at tables but insta sits out whenever a non-fish sits down.

You can't get booted if you sit out and then play an orbit so you won't get booted. Basically the dude is just working the software to stay at the table to wait for a fish, at least that's how I read it.

Trust me I am not behind WPN as much as I am against all the chicken little, the sky is falling the sky is falling paranoia mentality of too many people in this forum. It's real simple, if you don't trust the job WPN is doing then don't play there.

Winning_TD, is there any programming your team of highly trained monkeys can put into the software to automatically flag users for review that have indicators of camping? There needs to be some kind of proactive security, not just sub par reactive security. Is there any reason something like this isn't already in place? Please Invest into the software.

Historically it seems as if the sites rely on the geeks that we are to point out any inconsistencies and outliers. That's just the way of the world, keep on bitching and things change lol.

This needs to be looked at....

Figured you'd divert the conversation away from the topic at hand. Same thing you end up doing in every thread related to WPN's security issues. You are just as useless as your software programmers.

I’ve noticed on wpn heads up tables something similar

If I want to sit and wait at a heads up empty table it’s impoosible because a reg will be seated at 4 tables and wpn doesn’t give you an option for a new heads up table

So you either have to play the reg or not play that stakes...

Just one of the reasons I rarely play wpn and have put in way more hours on ignition.

I havent played online for about last 5 years due to obvious reasons (increased rake, bots, etc). From time to time I open the forums to read NVG and join the Fantasy Leagues.

I am not sure how I got to this thread, but it absolutely boggles my mind that a player and a site representative can talk in a manner of two drunk buddies in a pub. What’s even more mind boggling is that the site representative tells a player “I don’t have time” to do something that is clearly the site’s responsibility.

Back in 2010 sites would be sending out apology letters to players if something like this happened, and today the site reps are telling the players off for reporting something that clearly ruins the fun for some users. Nowhere even close to the “customer is always right” business model, rather quite the opposite.

This is comparable to walking into a restaurant and getting greeted with “What the **** do you want?”.

The site to customer relations have taken a 180 degree turn in the wrong direction, clearly.

The player is still doing it every day.

Everything I said in this thread about what this suggests about you and your network stands. You are clearly incompetent and either unwilling or unable to fairly enforce the rules as you said you would.

I would suggest that anyone considering playing on this network proceed with extreme caution.

i dont think customer service should be yur job.

Give him a break guys.. He's a tournament director and there has been a lot of overlay lately. It's stressful when your tournaments are $50k short and can't figure out why nobody wants to play anymore.

I don't think a ban would work, he could just pardon himself.

In all seriousness while I agree sometimes he should just ignore some posters his job is not one I would want to do myself and we should be greatful he is here to help.

I am pretty confident my being here does way more good than harm.

I apologise if you dont like my responses. Customer service is probably my biggest attribute in life however i will talk to people as they speak to me.

Anyway i have said many times. I am more than happy to just be a rep and when someone says something or complains.

My response could be.. Hi ...... Thank you for your message it is being taken into consideration.

I know what i would prefer!

I sense sarcasm!!

Who doesnt want to play anymore? and what $50k overlay are you talking about?
11-03-2017 , 03:57 PM
lol this is getting juicy.

but i had a similar thing happen the other day. I was waiting to re join a table i closed earlier as a better seat opened. There was one guy sitting out with $0 stack and it was probably 8 orbits or more before he got removed or left. I think 3 orbits (like a casino) to 5 is fine, but more is just too much
