Showing Hand Protocol Error on WPN Showing Hand Protocol Error on WPN

I've noticed this protocol error multiple times in Tournament play.....

Villain is in BB and Hero is on the button.... play proceeds to the river..... both players check the river....

If Hero has the best hand then villain's hand is NOT shown by WPN, but it should be shown because protocol calls for the BB hand to be shown before the button hand.

Am I misreading something here?

Not sure what you define as protocol.

If you mean it was checked down from a limp perflop, then most likely the BB would show first.

As the rules change by card room though, some places require last aggressive action to show first. Meaning if in position you were betting, the flop or turn, and BB just called, after checking the river the last aggressor would show first, ie the Hero in your example.

By "protocol" I'm referring to the standardized tournament rules set by the tournament directors association.

The "last aggressor" rule may be what I'm seeing.... thanks for that!

The 'last aggressive act' rule should only apply if action occurred on the river. If there are bets on the turn, but the river checks through, the OOP player is still required to show first in most card rooms.
