Routers dropping w/ WPN clients only? Routers dropping w/ WPN clients only?

09-07-2013 , 04:29 AM
I player on Merge and WPN. For some reason whenever I play on WPN clients my router will drop quite often for about 5-10 seconds. I've tried multiple routers thinking it was a router problem at first but turns out this only ever happens when playing on WPN clients. My router will literally drop my entire internet connection for about 5 seconds and come right back. Anyone else experience anything like this?

Nope.

I have a similar issue and it has been driving me insane! I kept thinking it was an issue on my end, maybe not...

It's definitely some kind of issue with the WPN software. It annoys me to no end. I'm positive it is not my router(s). I suppose I will try using Ethernet instead of wifi.

I can't believe no one else has experienced this other than TheSocialAssassin. It's a 3-5 second router drop I know it's going to happen when my action freezes on BCP I watch my network connection drop and immediately reconnect. The only time this ever happens to me is when playing BCP. Never when browsing, downloading, playing any other poker site or gaming. It happens 4-5 times an hour. Does anyone have any idea what this may be?

Happens to me all of the time and it is not fun, especially when running good. Thanks for the post, once again, thought it was only me.

I have since switched to using a wired connection and it no longer happens. However this is clearly a software issue with wifi connections. I spoke to support and emailed them about it and just got a generic response. This is something that needs to be taken seriously and looked into by the software team.

Yep, mine drops on ACR for about 10 seconds, on Merge it would last 60 seconds or more. Thought it had something to do with Holdem Manager, but not sure.

It's been happening to me the last few weeks, which is really frustrating after months and months of running fine...

It'll pause for some time then have me deep in my time bank or sitting out.

I've had this happen to me too, it was annoying, I would have hands time out though so it would be more then just a 5 second glitch, I've shown numerous hand histories and screenshots to the support via e-mail saying why would i be folding/timing out the nuts, but all they did was forward my system specifications to the IT department and that was the end of it. I do have to say though since this last update rolled out it hasn't happened once yet.. *knocks on wood* but I definitely feel your pain having experienced this.

Hello Everyone,

Interesting issue of the client dropping connection while on wireless but not wired.

I am likely to say this is not a client issue with wireless otherwise there would be a far larger group affected and it would affect everyone who is using wireless connections, which if it was, we should have a far greater amount of people contacting us, i would hope!

This sounds more like a bad signal dropping packets, since wireless works by sending burst of packets vs streaming packets like a wired connection does, any type of streaming content, such as games is far more sensitive to wireless delays than normal web browsing, or even streaming video's (since they use buffers to prevent issues)

Lets try to find a solution for those who are having the issues.

Firstly, can you provide me with the models of Routers you have where you experience the issue.

Also, how do you have the routers configured, using wireless B /G /N , or a mixed configuration.

What Channel do you have the wireless routers running on?

If your not sure how to check this if you get me the model numbers i can help walk you through it.

And, how many tables are you usually playing when this happens?

Does it happen with 1 table, or more, if with more can you try with less tables to see if it still occurs.

this, I will provide the other details in an e-mail to you again if need be, but it only happens on WPN. I can be playing wired/wireless and the other clients will work fine without any problems but WPN would still drop/time out as I stated above and Sanachie is saying, which leads me to believe it is infact something on WPN's end otherwise with what you are saying all the clients and other internet activities would be affected and they are not.
