First post for me so sorry if it's incredibly lame.

I logged into my cashier today to buy in with my Visa Green Dot Card when I noticed that the only options for Deposit are Bitcoin and P2P.

Seeing the Mastercard and Visa options were missing, I messaged the help desk.

This is that conversation:

Steven G.: Hello! Welcome to our Live Chat Department, my name is Steven G.
21:18Steven G.: May I please have your user name in order to locate your account?
21:18HERO: Hey Steve
21:18HERO: Redacto
21:19Steven G.: can you please elaborate on your question? you mean the methods?
21:19HERO: Yeah I went to deposit and it'ls only allowing for bitcoin or P2P?
21:19HERO: I usually deposit with a debit
21:19Steven G.: Thank you for the information, please allow me a minute to check your account
21:19HERO: kk
21:27Steven G.: I see the cards are not an option yes but i am not sure why, if you have a couple of minutes I can check with security
21:27HERO: k
21:31Steven G.: Thank you, please hold?
21:31HERO: yup
21:37Steven G.: After a standard review by our security team they have updated your deposit options. You are welcome to use Bitcoin! This is a great option that has been growing in popularity among poker players. We invite you to read more about this method at www.BitCoin.org, bitcoin is an online currency, here are 4 simple steps on how it works https://bitcoin.org/en/getting-started, all you need is a wallet! Here are some examples of the ones that are out there in the market https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet .
21:38HERO: No no I don't want the company line
21:38HERO: I want to know why I wasn't notified about this when there was a change
21:38HERO: I've already loaded money on the card specifically for this site. There were non emails and no warnings
21:38HERO: what's going on and why was that removed and for how long?
21:39Steven G.: it was done just now actually, the processors sent a report about a security flag being raised and the card options being removed
21:39HERO: How long will debit cards no longer be an option
21:40Steven G.: They will not be an option again sorry

Obviously I handled it pretty well

I'm not sure if this is a US ONLY problem or if it WGN wide?

Thoughts?

*Unrelated*

As this IS my first post I wanna say thanks to everybody here. I've been reading this site for a year or so, recently joined, still suck, but suck less every day

I suppose you could buy btc with the card, it's a fairly recent addition of many exchanges...but it's higher fees buying btc that way.

I'm definitely considering it. I am just a little worried that there might be something more to them pulling out of the debit card exchange permanently. I'm probably being paranoid.

I got the same line about a security issue with my card. I have always used Entropay to load at ACR, which is a prepaid virtual Visa card. Today I tried to find out why they removed the option for me and this is what they said:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Mr. XXXXX ,

Please note that your account did not pass the security checks. This usually happens when the account has been flagged by another gaming site as potential risk; this could happen due to several reason such as disputed transactions, insufficient funds checks or stated a gambling problem.

Due to privacy policies we can't see the name of the site who placed this alert; however, we can see the alert itself and due to this reason you will not be able to deposit using credit card. You are welcome to deposit using Money Gram and Bitcoin.

Having trouble making a deposit? Why not ask a friend? Our Player to Player transfers allows friends to send cash to one another with the click of a button. Simply press the ‘P2P Transfer’ button in the poker client cashier and follow the instructions to send funds. Transfers take just minutes in order to be completed!

We invite you to continue emailing us at or access the Live Chat feature in the Cashier section for faster and easier access to customer service. Plus, we also have toll free phone service which you are welcome to use as well: 1-877-314-4195.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you, we are at your service!

Kind Regards,

XXXXXAmericas Cardroom Security Team

Now this simply isn't true. I've been depositing online with a credit card since the days of Planet Poker and Paradise Poker etc. since before Party and Stars were even around. I have never once had a charge back or an issue of any kind in many years. But today they tell me "there is a security issue". My Entropay card is a prepaid visa. You load it with cash and use it. If the money isn't there it doesn't work. There is no way to scam using a prepaid visa FFS. I've also never had a gambling problem or been excluded or even ever had a disputed transaction. The reasons they give are bizarre.

It sounds like they are trying to push us to Bitcoin en masse. But why would they lie to me?

I've sent repeated emails telling them there's been a mistake and trying to escalate it but they keep telling me it is a permanent decision. I've asked what the site was that flagged my card but they won't tell me. They won't give me any more info.

As a test, just now I deposited $50 on PokerStars using my Entropay visa card. Yet ACR is telling me there's a problem? Bull****.

Yea I have been using the same western union prepaid mastercard since i joined in 2015. Actually was trying to help someone get all set up on the site and requested that they get this card to deposit since it is almost instant the funds arrive to ACR. I use bitcoin to withdraw and from what I hear to deposit with bitcoin can take a little while sometimes to clear on the site.

Can somebody clarify if depositing with bitcoin is instant, or does it take a few hours, or a day to clear and show up in you ACR acct?

But back on topic, the guy I was helping tried to deposit last night with that card, that I have used as recently as the CUBED series starting and was told to use bitcoin.
Winning TD, what is the reason for removing the card as a deposit option? To me it seems the easiest way to deposit. Add funds, deposit on acct, done. Bitcoin for withdraw is obviously the nuts.

BTW, I voted yes, but this is a dumb thing to do, especially if the customer is being lied to for the reason. Example in previous post ^^ from Adjusted. Be we all know how helpful the customer service is sometimes. Really curious on the real reason TD.

Also, when I originally verified my acct I had to send in a picture of all the cards I had used to deposit with (it was only 1) but I remember I was specifically told to send a copy of my means of deposit with ID and utility bill. What does someone need to send in to verify there acct if they only use bitcoin or P2P to deposit? Would it just be ID and utility bill?

I guess he was able to deposit on Black Chip Poker with the card I told him to get, without a single problem. Riddle me this, Batman.

I think that ACR has removed the ability for everyone, nothing to do with your cards specifically.

But I am with you on the unnecessary misdirection and lack of information coming out about this. It's not a good sign when users have to show up to the site to hear there is a problem.

I don't think it's a coincidence that this happened on the first of the month. It seems as though they had this move planned and it wasn't a spur of the moment action.

If that IS the case then it's -EV to not send out a mass email to your customers IMO.

This is interesting as I was not required to show my ID and Proof of Residence when I signed up with ACR a few months back. So it seems that they had relaxed on that a bit.

I am starting to think this may have something to do with a bigger issue.

Maybe DOJ? Is that possible here?

Not when I signed up, when I had to verify my acct before I could withdraw any monies. That is a must for everyone, but I remember I had a temp card, that I bought from the store, that I used first. Then I used the "real" card with my name on it to deposit too, after I recieved it a couple weeks later. I had to actually message Winning TD to get a security team member to call me to get the temp card removed from my acct, because obviously I didn't keep it. They weren't going to let me verify my acct without pics of ALL cards I used before.
Also, they were pretty clear they needed me to show the way I deposited, ie the prepaid card. So if someone new is signing up and only using bitcoin, how (or do they have to) verify their means of depositing.

Would like some verification WPN, trying to get some new people on your site!

We wouldnt just get rid of debit card deposits and not inform anyone.

It is specific to your history and your account.
