I'll bet they had been facing a lot of pressure and legal action that made this cone to a head

maybe, maybe not. i think its more likely that this is a preemptive move to avoid all of that.

In some weird way I feel like this is a good thing and I hope all of the main us-facing sites do this.

It may bring a few more players to the regulated sites which statistically maybe will make the regulated sites numbers/dollars look better. In turn it may encourage more states to regulate or even the off chance of federal regulation. Wishful hoping I know, but in the grand scheme of things...I think it's a good thing.

Sorry WPN is losing some of it's customer base though.

Does this only apply to poker or does it include sportsbook as well?
05-14-2014 , 03:47 PM
Is this going to be based off of IP address? Or are accounts with physical addresses in these states going to be permanently closed?
05-14-2014 , 04:32 PM
I havnt gotten this email and Ive been playing all day. Wonder if its just delayed. Anyone able to still play?
05-14-2014 , 05:28 PM
If I'm a player from another state that will be in Vegas for wsop can I play or will my account be banned if I log in and play.
05-14-2014 , 07:39 PM
well their what only one site left for us and that is Bovada. I hope they dont do the same thing that wpn and merge are doing. i would be a sad panda if that happens. ;(

This is a good thing form the overall well-being of the network, although obviously it sucks for the players from the banned states.

Maybe in the short term, but in the long term this can't be the case. Lets say California, New York, and Texas all get regulated, I bet over half the player base would be gone. I know Texas will be one of the last ones, but both New York and California have been mentioned in regulation talks.

This is so bad for me. I live in Nevada and play online MTTs for a living, and have been doing so exclusively at WPN.

What other options are there for me? I've checked out WSOP.com, but it seems like the regular tournaments there are way too small to make a living at.

I need regular tournaments in the $40-$200 buyin range. On sites where NV players are allowed to play.

Bovada, UP, WSOP ... or trap tourists at a casino nearby. There is also that tiny and unknown live tournament series coming up soon.

your standard of living must be very low then.

I asked support and was told that one can still play but cannot deposit. Whether or not you choose so is probably down to risk management though.

if the big "B" refuses new jersey customers, i'm leaving this state.
05-15-2014 , 02:55 PM
WPN are a bunch of cowards banning online players for certain states is suicidal at best other sites have done this and suddenly had a change of heart- I'm done with all the BS at this point if all I have to play on is wsop.com ultimate poker and that other new nv site I pass going thru their gps location crap is crazy most of the time it's telling me I'm not in NV tell that to my power bill via NV Energy.
05-15-2014 , 02:58 PM
I tried to play a 2 buck omaha tourney on ACR they stopped tourney and refunded ev1 money .After that BS I deleted site only had 3 bucks on site so they can shove it.

NV: WSOP, for sit and gos/MTTs Ultimate Poker
NJ: Borgata and WSOP

If players in regulated states played at regulated sites there would be enough action at those sites. Not supporting regulated sites when available undermines the entire process.

Nj I think wsop 888 borgata and party are ok at best. We need to educate people about poker get a new boom going. The more fish the better off the game is

That isn't the players fault, though. The regulated sites have done a terrible job, in my opinion, of raising their own profile and offer something of substantive value to their players. You can't blame someone for playing at Bovada, considering what they offer, simply because there is a regulated site offering a lot less.
