If you let things like this on the internet bother you I can't even imagine how poorly you deal issues in real life. You're a grown ass man I'm assuming so once again GET OVER IT.
If people choose to rant and spew crap, I choose to report them. They make a choice. I make a choice. Case closed.

Iunno people spewing off in chat can be beneficial in a game where you get very few psychological tells or whatever.

Id much rather have a rando tell me my family should die vs that reg who is like "omg mbn" or whatever every time they lose. The nut worse is regs who berate recreational players.

That is fine because you have the right to do so but I'm pretty sure you're wasting your time because I don't think its possible to get your chat banned on WPN.

Yeah, but is that the right way to think about it?

Racism has often flourished because of people who have had their own financial interests in keeping it alive. I don't want to be one of those people.

A site and its users have all the same reasons to police this that a brick and mortar room does. It's bad for business to permit an unpleasant environment that makes your customers / potential customers feel unwelcome. But I'm not sure that sites realize this.

Has anyone in the community ever gotten a response from WPN for reporting inappropriate chat?

This, out of a personal pow, as it's 95% complete fish that go on crazyass rants, it's more or less impossible to get to me and I honestly quite enjoy people trying and seeing them getting more and more tilted as they go

Out of a moral and more sympathetic pow I really despise it though. People are different and people have been through different things. Someone saying "Wishing cancer on someone is over the top, but I usually use your mum...-jokes..." might not realise that someone's mothers has actually died from cancer or some other horrible disease and it might be perceived just as bad.
Noone but the person offended can decide whether they should be offended or not. It's not for people without problems, issues, that don't belong to a minority of whatever kind and that totally lack empathy, to judge.

And I completely agree with the "mbn", etc comment. The fact that someone who should be used to the variance that poker brings and that has seen thousands and thousands of beats and STILL can't keep their mouth shut when they lose a flip is really fascinating to me. Fascinating to the point of almost being a little tilting as I can't understand how someone would wanna use their energy on individual hands they have no control over. So maybe it's all just a massive level

Berating fish or anyone else that the 'hero' finds bad ,for that matter, is just plain stupid for obvious reasons.

Pokemon Master doesn't chat anymore....making me question whether or not this is true.

I personally never use racial or homophobic stuff in my chat rants but who cares. I am so sick of the babies. if you are gay, you are gay. who gives a **** what some random dick says about it in the chat box. if you are Hispanic/African American/Asian etc does it really bother you when someone calls you a name? that's so weak on your part. if someone called me a honky or a cracker or whatever I would be like cool story bro. the people saying these comments are clearing ignorant morons but i think the people getting up in arms are equally weak minded. own what you are. when someone calls you a f*g or hom* or nigg** or sp*c or cracker or kik* or whatever just eat and remember the person saying it is prob in the bottom 10 percent of the human gene pool.

it's not as though a group of thugs are cornering you in public embarrassing you in front of people. it's the internet. relax

If white people don't mind being called racial epitaphs then why should anyone else? Maybe we should start marching to support white people. Oh, wait a minute, there are already organizations that do that.

Double_R called someone a 'pile of sticks' a bit ago in the $3.5k after he got sucked out on. Sorry, but that's totally uncalled for.

I cry when called a donk. And if they call me a stupid donk, I call my shrink for an appointment. Cause, my mental state is completely controlled by these pixels.

How do you guys feel about "outing" screen names of players that you know are regs. and who you constantly see berating other players, especially weaker players?

Tired of seeing this garbage.

I don't play on WPN. I'm on Carbon and have had people come back and call me a rat for reporting them. But, they're no longer spewing offensive slurs. One even wished me happy holidays.

Sticks and stone may break my bones but words will never hurt me. However, in online poker, sticks and stones are meaningless but words might chase the fishes.

Berate the regs, embrace the fish, enjoy the game.

This exactly.

I don't get how you could be so politically correct that you are offended and feel the need to tattle on idiots. If someone is acting like that at a table I would want them there. You know you are playing with a childish man, or ignorant, non intellectual. Both will be bad players in general or on obvious tilt. Who has time anyway to report someone for saying no no words while in games? I don't even keep the box on chat I keep it so I can see number of hands and basic game info. Maybe you were on tilt when you made this thread...

Not accepting racial or homophobic slurs has nothing to do with political correctness. Posters who are patting themselves on the back for their tolerance of bigotry have a lot to learn.

If you wouldn't make such a big deal about it people wouldn't do it. As someone that talks **** in the chat box, I do it for a few reasons.

1. I find it funny
2. It's a way for me to deal with bad beats
3. It's the internet, not real life.
4. I don't care what you think.
5. You'll play bad because I called you "XXX" or told you to get "XXX"
6. It upsets you.
7. You take time away from playing to go cry to chat/support.
8. You take time away from playing to go cry on 2+2
9. Fish are fish....99% of them aren't going to quit or go get better because of something you said in chat.
10. You always have the option to block my chat.
11. They are just words. My mother always taught me words are just words and only have the power that you give them. I don't give the word any power and it doesn't have any power over me.

It really amazes me that we have (presumably) grown ups crying like children about something that was typed in a chat box. It's 2015 and I think we have bigger issues in both the online poker world and the real world. If you don't have the capacity to tune it out or block the chat then you may want to hide inside your house for the rest of your life because the real world isn't a nice place.

tl;dr

GROW UP
