I took a look at the tournament rules. Some thoughts:
It seems that there is no longer a rule about how long it takes before a tournament is canceled. There was at one time. Should I wait an hour? Two hours? Five? This should be clearly stated.
Rule 2.
Tournaments will begin at scheduled times displayed in the “Tournament Lobby”. Americas Cardroom reserves the right to cancel or delay a scheduled tournament without notice.
Well, so much for being notified about scheduled maintenance.
Rule 17.
Players will receive breaks throughout all of the tournaments. Please see the Tournament Lobby prior to playing to see when each scheduled break will happen. Breaks begin once all play has been concluded at every table of the tournament, some breaks may last slightly longer than others due to an extended period of time in which players may need to make a decision.
Not exactly correct, a SNG exception should be included.
Rule 20.
Players caught in collusion (chip dumping, soft play, or unethical chat) will be banned from the tournament and their account (s) will be banned from playing at Americas Cardroom. Americas Cardroom reserves the right to withhold any funds in a cheats account to reimburse the players who have been cheated.
Unethical chat? That's pretty broad and could mean whatever they want it to mean. Does it mean racial comments? Is "white trash" actionable? What about insults like "jerk" or "idiot from Northern Europe?" Someone once told me in chat, "Your mom was good last night." Is that OK? Can you call someone a fish?
It's POKER. Players try to tilt other players, or they get tilted and say stupid things, especially when alcohol is involved. I've been mocked or insulted at the table at one time or another because of my race, age, political affiliation, religion, having ADD and too many others things to remember or mention. I had a guy yell at me that I was "the worst player in the room" when I knocked him out of a tournament.
I don't do anything like the above, but I know it will be done to me. And yes ladies, someone will say something about your breasts.
Live or online, you could say that my wife is a whore and I wouldn't take the bait. It doesn't help my wife if I tilt and screw up a tournament. I'm not at the table to defend my family's honor, I'm there to win money--and when I come home from a live tournament, she loves seeing the money. When it's a big live cash she counts it, lays out the bills and takes a picture.
THAT is why I don't tilt, no matter what someone says at the table.
