If you're keeping bitcoins in blockchain for any decent period of time you'll be exposing yourself to some bitcoin currency risk. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Its a volatile product so any bad news for cyptic currency ie government banning it etc could see a huge drop in price. Visa versa.

Some platforms offer a "vault" like option to covert the coins to USD and store in their system as USD$. I know you can do this with coinbase, not sure about circle.

I'm sure there are other options but in general I try get everything converted and out of there asap.

No, if you are holding in your Circle account you are also holding it in bitcoin. They display the current USD value at the top, but it will fluctuate.

I think Circle is testing a USD wallet, but Coinbase already has one for people in certain states. In those wallets your balance is being held in dollars, and then you can either withdraw to your bank or convert to bitcoin to send out.

Yes, you can purchase bitcoin on Circle with a credit card. Bonus is that those purchases are instant. It depends on your bank whether they charge it as a purchase or a cash advance though.

Re: Bitcoin Deposits and Withdraws

So I did my first withdrawal. Showed up in my Blockchain within a couple hours. I transferred to my Circle yesterday afternoon. As of right now the money isn't in my Circle account and it still shows up as "Pending". Has anyone else ever waited this long? My Circle to Blockchain transactions are instant (when depositing).

Congrats on your winnings.

Let us know how long it takes to go from block to circle, and circle to bank. THnx.

Re: Bitcoin Deposits and Withdraws

I have had a transfer take a few hours one time, but they are usually faster. I don't use Circle but if I understand it right it shouldn't really be the difference (whether you use Circle or Coinbase.)

Requested a small cashout this morning and it's taking a few hours (but the fact that my expectations have gone from a couple weeks via cheque to a few hours via Bitcoin is crazy.)

Got a notification on my phone and email as soon as the money was in my Circle account, around early afternoon. 3-5 business days to hit bank. Not bad ACR, not bad.

Just a heads up that transactions might take longer than normal to confirm right now.

The number of bitcoin transactions are at all time high levels so there's a chance that it takes awhile for a transaction to be included in a block and confirmed.

If you are sending from your own wallet like Blockchain.info you can include a larger fee to give your transaction higher priority. If you bump up from the standard fee of .0001 to .0005 your transaction should be included in one of the next few blocks. That's still only about 13 cents.

Yeah, after using bitcoin your expectations really do change. I have to remind people that are used to only using bitcoin that waiting hours is lightning fast compared to other standard methods.

Plus with bitcoin and Circle/Coinbase once the money's in your bank account it's good to go. You don't have to worry about a check bouncing later or your bank sending it to collections to clear.

Re: Bitcoin Deposits and Withdraws

I had already done a few bitcoin transactions but I just got the blockchain account to run everything through like everyone is saying. So I should create a new address every time I send money into blockchain?

For anyone using Blockchain.info you just have to click on "Custom" on the "Send Money" page.

That allows you to manually set the mining fee to something a little higher.

Hopefully the need to do this won't continue for much longer... but for now it's really not that bad to pay a few extra cents to ensure your transaction goes thru quickly.

Yep. You can give each address a label too so it's easier to keep track of which one was used for what.

Someone from Circle.com emailed me and is asking me questions about my account.
She wanted to know what i do for a living , the source of my funds , how often i expect to use my account , the purpose of my account.

I already told her i buy and sell bitcoins on occasion and im also in buying and selling goods and receiving bitcoin as payment. ...

Now she wants me to elaborate even further? ...advice please.

Haha that's what my pops says when we play together.
When I'm down to 20bb I'll say, "Yeah I pretty much lost already."

He'll reply, "What, you came here to lose?"

I actually haven't played in a week which is saying a lot. I wanted to get in the action tonight but multiple people are saying the wallets are asking questions, it's not worth it to me to compromise my bank account.

Btw, I'm actually using "coin.mx" instead of circle/coinbase. I Tried buying Btc last night on coinbase, and it said it takes 3 days to go into my account. Yeah no thanks, and circle is just weird with all their questions. So far coin.mx hasn't asked questions and deposits go through. Try that out p2diarrhea

Yeah, I think saying that you bought and sold for yourself is a common use of their service. Someone buying bitcoin before and needing to sell it now to pay bills or something. It could have been purchased from another exchange, or a bitcoin ATM or a friend or whatever.

Along with poker and anything illegal they also they also don't like people using them to buy and sell bitcoin for others or acting like some kind of broker yourself.

People will put an ad on Craigslist or LocalBitcoins and sell bitcoin to people in person at a markup. They don't want to be involved in that, so you don't want your answer to go in that area.

No, Blockchain.info is only a bitcoin wallet - bitcoin in and bitcoin out.

Unless the email specifically states that the Circle account will be closed if the questions aren't answered, I'd ignore the email. You really don't want to leave a 'paper' trail of you sending them misinformation if you can possibly help it.

Re: Bitcoin Deposits and Withdraws

Pretty nifty stuff going on here. I had coinbase setup from previously. It takes a while for the first transactions to go through and get verified.. and then you can add a credit card as a backup funding method so I can purchase 'instant' btc.

Get the deposit info from the poker software. Buy that exact amount of btc. Send that exact amount of btc. Boom funds available in like 5 minutes.

I won pretty good last night and cashed out my original deposit amount. Requested to send it back to my coinbase acct. I haven't received any funds or e-mails regarding the cashout yet but even if received in a couple of days this is going to be awesome.

Eat a little bit of fees obtaining/sending/receiving the btc and of course the swing in value can go either way but this is still the tits. Good job WPN.

Re: Bitcoin Deposits and Withdraws

Thank you to everyone for the advice and information given in this thread.

My experience with cashing out through bitcoins was:

ACR -> Blockchain (process took about 3 hours to clear, requested at 9am ET)
Blockchain -> Circle (process took about 1 hour to clear, requested at 12pm ET)
Circle -> Bank account (now pending and states 3-5 businss days)

I'll post back when the money actually hits my bank account. I made $.02 through the transfers in the amount that is going to my bank. However, I now have $0.11 in my Circle account that was from the value of the BTC in between the time when I requested the Circle -> Bank account transfer and when it actually processed. I can't get the $0.11 out since the minimum withdrawal is $1.00. There is also $.06 left over in my ACR account balance since the initial transaction of ACR -> Blockchain must be done in whole dollar amounts.
