wow coinbase has a significant delay on getting your bitcoins and they lock you in on the price? I like how they sell it as a good thing when in reality if the price tanks over night as it has a few times before, you're pretty much screwed. I expected as much for going btc->poker but betting on the price staying stable over 2 days seems much more reasonable than 1week+.

Anyone have any experience with the more traditional bitcoin exchanges where you can keep dollar amounts on the exchange? That would seem to reduce the risk considerably because you only need to hold btc for a few hours before getting them to dollars. Bitstamp looks like it has a good reputation but I'm not sure if they take americans.

I set up my bit coin wallets and requested a cashout about 4 hours ago....still nothing showing up in my wallet. Is this normal? Been reading people report it being in thier wallet in less than an hour.

Agree with what FullTiltMode said about the Bitcoin core client.

If the only thing you want it for is as an intermediary wallet between Coinbase and WPN... then Blockchain.info will work fine. It's easier to use and you don't have to worry about downloading anything.

Blockchain.info actually doesn't have your private keys either, so they never have control over your bitcoin.

Right, Coinbase is selling you bitcoin that they have at the current price... but they won't release it to you until your bank transfer shows up.

There have been times where they ran out of bitcoin to sell and would take your money today, and then give you the exchange rate to be determined in a few days. For someone depositing $ on to WPN that works fine, but people that wanted a specific bitcoin amount complained.

Coinbase does have an option like you're talking about, but it's only available in these states so far:

You pre-load your Coinbase account by sending money from your bank first, and when it gets there you can use it to buy bitcoin and they'll release it to you instantly.

Yeah. When you sell bitcoin to Coinbase or Circle they will lock in the exchange rate at the time you process the sale. So you'll know exactly how much money they're going to send to your bank account.

Bah was trying this out, I set up circle and deposited with my mastercard which was instant, but blockchain is down. Should I wait it out or is there an alternate to use?

also, I'm just trying a small $10 deposit. Blockchain says that I have $10.00 available at 0.04401409 BTC however wpn is asking for .0445

Check your transactions. If it's still processing obviously there's nothing to worry about. After processing the start of the transaction should occur (either within moments or minutes I've never actually watched it that closely to tell you which. It shouldn't take long after that, though, to be confirmed.

Yeah, they're valuing them at slightly different exchange rates.

Normally you'd be able to adjust the amount you want to deposit on WPN down 10 cents or whatever it takes to make the numbers match. But since $10 is the min they won't let you do $9.90.

Nah I just put another $10 circle, transferred it over to block.io and to wpn. Only issue I had was trying to figure out how much to transfer, so I left a few cents on block.io in the process. Would be nice if you could tell wpn how many bitcoins you want to transfer over instead of us currency and them telling you how much to send.

Overall though a pretty good and fast experience. Probably took 30 minutes in all.

Agree, it would make it a lot easier for people if they had both options.

Most likely for now ill just be using it to go between WPN and coinbase. At least until I find a good reason to hold BTC or use it for something else.

getting ready to setup account with blockchain for the bitcoin option. Does circle offer a Bitcoin ATM card or would i need to go through a different bitcoin company to do that?

My cpu seems to be slowing down sometimes since ive downloaded bitcoin core, registered another wallet with coinbase. Even when the blockchain is fully downloaded I am experiencing lag on my internet explorer as ive never really seen before.

It does seem that it only occurs when I have bitcoin websites open, but I am not 100% sure that it is the cause. Can someone here tell me exactly what related to BTC (websites,wallets, etc) could be causing the slowdown, and at least a little bit on why they slow it down?

Circle doesn't have a debit card, they just deposit the money in to your bank account.

Someone else can answer if they know of one... but the only bitcoin debit card that I know of isn't available to people in the US right now.

You don't really need to be using the full Bitcoin Core client for what you want to do.

I'd recommend trying Electrum if you still want to store the wallet on your computer, or Blockchain.info for a web wallet.
