Americas Cardroom Servers Go down, Refund only buy in? Americas Cardroom Servers Go down, Refund only buy in?

09-17-2013 , 08:40 PM
As you all know, Americas Cardroom servers went down. For any1 left in a tournament, they just refund your buy-in. I was playing in a tournament just a couple left from being ITM, with a huge chip lead.

I asked the chat they said just the buy-in was going to be refunded. They are NOT going to do a chip-chop? He said those are the rules I agrees to yada yada. So the guy in last place gets the same amount as me.

Would the standard be taking the total prize pool, every1 chip counts, and figuring it up that way?

To me, this is pretty much robbing your custmers and I am 100% bringing my business elsewhere.

If it s that n their T+C- I don't play there so I am just assuming it is based on your post, then that is their rules.

You can't blindly press the agree button to their T+C, and then complain about it when they enforce them. It doesn't work that way

So the people who were knocked out don't get their buy in refunded, and anyone who was still alive only gets their buy in refunded? am i understanding this correctly?

if so, thats a major ass raping for the players.

It can work that way if the ToS has unreasonable terms.

I'm not saying that this is one of those cases. I don't have an opinion either way on this specific issue.

But the suggestion that agreeing to a terms of service allows a company to rip you off is a bit over the top, to say the least.

What's really unique about this situation is that the ToS agreement doesn't even matter because wtf is a player going to do if he legitimately gets ripped off and the poker site acts outside it's own ToS? That player is just screwed.

So at the very least, let OP speak his mind and get this ToS crap out of here.

I think every1 gets their buy-in back. I would assume that is the case. But even that might be too much of an assumption given the recent events.

Still though. Those players were knocked out in a 100% fair environment. We shouldnt be punished for their software messing up imo. I wish there were something else I could do about it, thats why I cant wait until 100% regulation.

there so dumb too i tried depositing with WU and im pretty sure i didnt find anywhere where it stated to say to send it in US dollars....but anyways they denied it and i loss 5 bucks on the fee, the guy on chat said it was "industry standard to send in us dollars" ROFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
09-18-2013 , 12:17 AM
I would like an answer from a rep on this. I think they should not to be taking rake unless the tourney is in the money and or it its being divided by chip counts.
09-18-2013 , 12:21 AM
theboss, why are you posting that in this thread?

According Americas Cardroom's site:

"If a Multi-table Tournament is not in the money is cancelled, players that have been eliminated from the tournament will not receive any compensation for the tournament. Players that remain in the tournament will receive the following compensation: a. All players that remain in the tournament would receive their buy-ins, rebuys and re-entries back. b. The remaining prize pool would be divided equally amongst the players remaining in the tournament.

If a Multi-table Tournament is in the money cancelled, players that have been eliminated from the tournament will not receive any compensation for the tournament. Players that remain in the tournament will receive the following compensation: a. 50% of the prize pool will be divided by the number of players remaining in the tournament and distributed equally. b. 50% of the prize pool will be distributed on a percentage basis according to each player’s chip count."

I believe there was somewhere between 100-115 people left in the 10K event tonight that got cancelled when the servers went down. All I can say is they better split the entire prize pool and NOT just refund the buyins, or I will do my best to convince every player I know to leave them and go to a reputable site.

YUP this happen to me in the PUNTA CANA 2 SEAT-
basically half of the field was eliminated, only pays 2.. so half field get money back and WPN gets to keep the other half..

LOGICALL SOLUTION is everyone remaining gets money back and any money in prizepool from eliminations, then gets chip chopped. (regardless of the GTD prizepool)
09-18-2013 , 12:57 AM
Prize Pool exceeded the GTD btw, was about $10,400.

I was in the 10k as well with around 11k. I fired 3 bullets $75+ reg. It's also not fair if chip chop is less than my 3 bullets.

asianhustler, according to their terms you would get all your re-entries back as well, before the remainder is split if you were not eliminated when the tourney was cancelled.

I assume by "Fees will be refunded also" they really mean the entire prize pool + fees will be distributed according to their terms.
09-18-2013 , 01:48 AM
Oh, and just when will this happen? I've been waiting since the first melt down to get proper compensation and haven't. I've asked support twice about one tournament in particular and haven't got a satisfactory response. This is bull****ing****.
09-18-2013 , 01:55 AM
Agreed, there is a rep from the site in the other thread right now
