ACR Virus Warning from AVG?

Downloaded ACR a few days ago to check it out, played a few freerolls, no problems.
Yesterday, I launch it and AVG pulls up a warning citing a IDP.ARES virus, and wants to quarantine it. I let it do so because this is software I haven't used before and can't be sure if it's safe. I uninstall ACR, delete the installer, and download another fresh installer from the official ACR site (again). Now, it immediately stops the install as soon as it starts because of a potential virus.
What exactly is going on here? It seems crazy to go through with a financial transaction through a program getting flagged as a threat, but there appears to be a good amount of people playing on ACR. Not sure what to think here.

what you are experiencing is a false-positive on the antivirus.

AVG isn't what it use to be. You can check AV-Comparatives for overviews. If you using a free option right now Avast or Avira would be your best bet.

This goes for Bitdefender too. It will automatically firewall block it. Confused me real good as I thought the ACR software just didn't work right. For some reason Black Chip works fine though, what's the difference?
