I remember that when I started out and was playing micros, I liked the fact that WPN had great structures that lasted a while so I could learn to play better, but I had the ability to stay up late at night, while others don't. That being said, there were times when I just didn't feel like playing a long tournament with 3 hour late registration, and so I skipped it.

On the other hand, I agree for the most part that the most important tournaments to focus on are the medium to high stakes, if that was your point. Regs at those stakes will play the one hour late registration games as well, and given the shorter late reg/re-entry time, less skilled players will make the final table. That's a good thing for everyone except those who are the absolute best tournament players.

Again, I do not advocate getting rid of long late registration at all, but some midstakes and maybe a 109 nightly with 1 hour late registration would be good, particularly around the 8-12 time slot. There is definetely a lot of people who skip tournaments that start late, when they'd open one or two more up if they knew they'd end within 3ish hours, but not upwards of 7 or 8.

I'll come up with a rough schedule, probably going to copy/paste/edit Tapirboy's work, since it was well done and neat.
I agree.....

I'm just a micro/low Mtt player..

I'm a donkey grinder but my game has most definitely improved over the year..

I have made that same point that the 60 will.be less intimidating and doable....

The td did say he will focus on micro/low.(for now)..

If med/high have a couple of those, I would definitely play satellites for those thinking I.have a chance and when I lose(lol) it was fun and that what's missing right now..

I would have no issues buying in for med on my day,s off. Once again having fun and a chance with 60 late.

Guys like me really don't withdrawal our winnings at those levels. We reinvest at higher levels to play with the bigger boys. Looking for the "score" not away to pay our rent month in month out.

I think.many rec behavior is close to that..
We/I really don't sit on cash tables we grind Mtt..

I'm just glad he heard us and is hearing us..

Once again he did say generally micro/low and I think 10/12 blinds with 60 late..

He did make a move in our direction..

So let's not nit him and when he does sprinkle a couple of these around let's give him breathing room to see how it goes..

my 2 cents.... MTTs were my main grind (Stars/Tilt/Merge/Lock Days) the 3 hour late reg is beyond ridiculous which is the only reason I do not grind them anymore.

I'm sure there are a lot of players like me. My recommendations:

1) Buy-ins under $10 (1hr LR) - guys will multi-reg these so a lower GTD is fine (these are fillers and affordable to grind) Turbos please.. No one wants to grind 4 hours and make $9..

2) Buy-in $11-$20 (1.5 hr LR) higher GTD... with the $10s & under -- when guys bust they'll jump into these

3) Over $20 -- (1.5 hr LR - 2 hr) -- same as above.. Guys will jump in these to chase earlier losses...

Any standard player can easily grind 4 tables.... Most of us will 8-10 table if possible...

2 cents ------

Re: 60 min LR MTT;s

This is an edited version of Tapirboy's post proposed schedule, I changed some of the buy ins, added in stack sizes and added a few tournaments. One issue is the large amount of stuff that ended up starting at 9, but I don't know if that's necesarrily a bad thing. Registration for the 10k GTD is about to end (at about 9:15) so there is a decent amount of traffic at that time of the day, and the buy ins and game types at 9 are varied.

11:00 $005 $1k
11:30 $005 $400 6-MAX TURBO
12:00 $015 $500 MIDNIGHT MADNESS NO LATE REG TURBO FREEZEOUT 5k starting
12:00 $010 $200 MIDNIGHT MADNESS NO LATE REG TURBO FREEZEOUT PLO8 5k starting, changed to from PLO to PLO8

*The 4k 8 Max is happening at the same time, but there's no choice for midstakes turbos near this time slot except the last levels of the 1.5k 30 dollar 6 max.

** There is currently no Stud on the schedule, and I think running one or two, even with low GTDs at first would be a great way to bring Stud players in. Hell, I'd even play for fun if I wasn't in my usual games. Time slot allows people on the West Coast to get in after work, with enough time that people on the East Coast can play if staying up until 11 or 12 isn't too late for them.

*** It'd be great to have a good PLO game to play later in the evening that wouldn't take a really long time. Even given a small GTD pool, I don't think this will have trouble running as long as the minimum to start is 3 or 4 and not 6. Not to mention long late registration really can make PLO MTTs really terrible around the last couple of levels.

There's a little more to be said about why I put a few things where I did, but I'm exhausted (and have barely even watched what's going on at E3!) so I'm gonna just go ahead and submit this post for now.

Re: 60 min LR MTT;s

I think there does need to be a low buyin NLHE at 7:30, there's basically a big hole there. Better to just add your $50 than change out the $7. Otherwise I like your additions.

(Oh, and the 9:00 $50 got unbolded somehow, in case the TD works from that post.)

Re: 60 min LR MTT;s

You guys are nuts if you think they even consider adding all of those 1k+ guarantees to the schedule. If they are already running 200k+ in overlay per month (not sure why you'd really share you're losing out on 200k/month personally), and now you are wanting several 1k gtds, you're in for false hopes. These will all be zilch gtds or $200 gtds for the first few weeks until they get reasonable expectations. Also not sure why that schedule favors the bigger buy in players more than the lower buy in players when this is the working man in the USA. Think I counted <10 $5 or lowers, maybe 10-12 $5-20 buy ins, and 15+ 20+ buy in? The $2 rebuy becomes around a $10 buy in, and the $6r becomes a $20+ buy in most of the time. Maybe without reentries this will be good, as people like me can play higher without thinking they have to risk $30 for a $10 buy in every single time.

Re: 60 min LR MTT;s

Part of my "argument" with td was that lower g.t.d. Will be!!! Acceptable!! If they extend themselves to a 60 late..

That is partly what made my argument balance out against there concerns and instinct..

They will run..

They will cover at lower g.t.d...
And in time they will see, and raise them..

If they try to accommodate a higher g.t.d. On the 60,s it could backfire on us..

Where compromise is made, a compromise has to be met..

We can't be like the nits we dislike and look for free money or discounts on rake etc,etc..

My pleas were passionate but I was sincere in that the logic has to be sound and the business fair..

This will only.work if we let them make money or alleviate there concerns of "not losing" money..

^^^ I'll be grinding 20-30 per day if they correct the silly 3hr LR. As of today I play exactly -0-.... No problem playing lower GTDs, less variance any way with less runners. = more fun to final table which you will often enough...

Re: 60 min LR MTT;s

To help get the tournament some notice. Please put 1-2hr Late registration in the name of the tournament so it will stick out in the tournament lobby and then more people would see it.

Re: 60 min LR MTT;s

I just want you to know that i have read everything. I will look at all the different options then come up with something small to start with. I will probably change a couple from the current also.

In regards to a name. I do like the idea but would need a better option than the quicker10.

Lets look at names.

After the slow season and all works well...

The larger monthly 60 late g.t.d. should be called..

^ I kind of agree. Just label them as 1/2 hour late reg and call it a day.

Maybe give a few special names like "Midnight Madness."

How about some progressive super knockouts with 1 to 2 hours late reg? Those tourneys are a lot of fun, and the bounties get quite large by the final table

Haha I feel ya guru. Even a 27 dollar progressive would be fun for a change. I am just a little tired of the same two nightly 109s and 160. I agree though. I'm ok with no guarantee to start with. Just see how they do. Anything to break up the monotony lol
