Welcome to the Jungle! Welcome to the Jungle!

Here we go, fellow junglers. A thread dedicated to the most exciting role in League of Legends. The one which impacts all lanes and the one which is getting blamed when your toplaner loses his lane.

In this thread we discuss all things jungle. Starting buffs, routes, optimal gank paths, and unorthodox junglers like Morgana.

Of course this thread wouldn't be complete without 2p2 LoL community's favourite jungler, now FotM due to a recent skin release:

Udyr!

What do you guys think about the dorans start? Pros/cons? Is it only viable on certain chars, and if so which?

How is zed in the jungle? If your team doesn't funnel a bit of farm to you is he useless?

Dorans is good in a few select champs, but it is high risk high reward. very viable on Lee sin

Jungle dorans start: this is just me theory crafting so take it with a grain of salt. In SoloQ, I don't think its great. The first leash you get isn't too good, and the Supp won't take a hit from it most likely. Since teams are disorganized you can go first buff into killing weak junglers at their 2nd buff. Since lanes are even and soloQ players don't care about turrets, blade start seems mainly for quicker early clear and powerful counter jungling. In high level organized play, it seems like a good way to get a lot of 3v1 damage on a turret or to power up your early ganks.

I don't like the dorans start in jungle very much, especially in solo Q.

As a jungler, you basically control the flow of the game. I like to think of jungling much like being the quarterback of an American football team. You call most of the "plays" as the jungler. Or, at least you should. You know where everyone is on the map, you have the objective timers and you are the person most often creating a numbers advantage in certain areas.

Much of this objective control is centered around monsters. Blue/Red buff, dragon and baron. Starting with Doran's gives you TEMPORARY strength over champs, turrets and in lane creeps, but not jungle camps and not dragon or baron. This temporary advantage in certain places can give you an edge to snowball the game, but you have to understand that that is where the power in the doran's start comes from. An early advantage that you snowball from. It requires far too much coordination for solo Q and it can backfire in a massive way. Plus, you will be building your jungle item after your doran's start in most instances anyway. It's best to just start with it in > 95% of games.

TLDR; read first sentence again.

How do you guys build lee sin in jungle? I generally go full tank, like golem into sightstone w/ aegis and tabi after. In general I feel he is so glassy without a tank build unless you get fed.

ive tried it a few times, never had much success. hes too slow to get close enough for his Q or E most of the time and getting boots of mobility is just a waste of damage

id suggest using movement speed quints if youre gonna try it

That's why you use the wall.
If you force a flash, just come back later.

ya i mean hes not completely useless but meh

you cant even really max W bc your jungle clear is so slow if not and you need like the first 2-3 blue buffs so your mid is going to be at a pretty big disadvantage

Do it with Zed in the mid lane. Easy.

I think azingy runs spellvamp quints and just farms the jungle nonstop til easy gank or countergank

9 utility is prob a must on jungle karthus right? Seems pretty good if your laners are holding their own, and karthus seems like a real strong lane shover too

Karthus is farm/kill reliant. I think 21/0/9 is only way to run him, simply for the summoner cdr and longer jungle buff.

You also start faerie charm. You want tear asap.

If you want to know how to build Lee Sin or Karthus just remember to pick Trundle and you rid yourself of worry.

My instinct is 9/0/21 for jungle karthus, but I don't honestly know.

Whats the general consensus between tiger udyr and pheonix udyr in the jungle? I generally play tiger (I'm only lvl 19) and I'm doing well, but I never know what to build

Phoenix is better in most cases (and is my wife's favorite).

It's better because it clears much quicker and pushes lanes quicker. It also does nearly as much damage to champions as tiger does late game with the traditional tankyish udyr builds.

If you build the utility/split push, farm, farm, farm udyr then phoenix is the overwhelming favorite.

If you like to gank a lot and have incredible surprising early game damage, then tiger is the way to go.

Both are fun and effective. Do what you want when you want and ignore the haters.
