A big reason for the heavy push stuff is to be team fight averse. Lotta Koreans picking Ori, Nami, Shen, Zac, etc. comps for the wombo combo strats and the best way to prevent getting owned is to avoid 5v5 fights altogether.
This is really the hugest difference I've noticed between the KR/OGN scene and the others. They are really good at working as a team without actually being grouped in the same area. Small stuff -- like AD+support defending tower vs. 3, they sense the 3 guys will dive, so jungler rotates to Shen (vs. Zac) lane specifically so that the jungler can zone and prevent Zac from interrupting Shen ult if it is needed.
