Is EU going to manage to lose IEM Katowice? They sent:

G2 Esports (7-0)
Unicorns of Love (5-1)
H2K (5-2)

The LCK sent:

ROX Tigers (2-6, all new players since the Worlds disbandment)
Kongdoo Monster (1-7)

Never has there been a more free World Championship, can EU's representatives blow it?

UOL will take it down.

ROX and FW through to the semifinals.

Europe with three teams in the losers' brackets to fight for the final two spots. I'd guess it ends up UOL vs ROX and H2K vs FW for the semfinals.

G2 has never lost a best of series

So the last time they lost vs an eu lcs team was before the introduction of bo series in week 6 spring last year

Flash Wolves dismantle the EU LCS (3-0 vs G2, 2-0 vs UOL, 2-1 vs H2K) at IEM Katowice. They did not have to face a team from any other region. G2 can at least take away eliminating two Korean teams in best of three, but they weren't exactly dominant against some of the LCK's worst.

Looking at the power rankings coming in, I think you have to move FW up to the top 6 today, the best team outside of the LCK. 21. Echo Fox, 22. bbq Olivers stands out as patently ridiculous.

The 0-7 battle between Origen and Giant was amazing

Both team probably wouldn't qualify for CS play-offs, it was litterally like a Gold SoloQueue game

Roccat?

Meanwhile, pretty ugly beat for Giants with the remake, they were crushing the game.

the bottom 4 teams Giants, Roccat, Unicorns of Love and H2K rosters look terrible might as well not show up to their games vs the top 6.

The top 6 team all look kinda good

I think Giants is probably quite decent. The other 3 are likely trash though.

Initial impression after day 1:

FNC,G2
S04, MSF, VIT
SPY, GIA
Bottom 3.

Fnatic
G2

Misfits
Splyce
Schalke 04

Vitality

Giants
Roccat
Unicorns of Love
H2K

the list I made before the split

good 1st day by Vitality, weak by Splyce

I can see Giants being better than the bottom 3 by I think the gap between the 6th team and Giants will be bigger than between Giants and 8th best team.

This is the most ridiculous patch for competitive play that I've ever seen.

The Jin Air/SKT Game 3 is absurd.

IMO there's way too many champion options and way too many options for shielding, reviving, and mana regen. They need to simplify the champion pool and the styles of play available from champions because the bans don't do enough to take away any style options from teams.

Shielding will be nerfed next patch. Relic shield passive and active will be removed. Stopwatch is still a problem though.

FNC looked good in the finals. 5-0 this split versus the second best team in G2. I think they'll do pretty well at MSI, can maybe make the finals but probably not win. I think they have a similar problem to last year where they forfeit the meta early game champions and rely on coming back with picks like Sivir, Janna, and Karma. I do think they're significantly worse with Bwipo, so not sure when sOAZ is available.
