It's time for me to finally admit I'm a bad player. I've slowly become the guy who is raging at all the guys who whine for lane, play it regardless, etc, i'm still bad. If I had twitchtv my two solo que draft chats and both 20mingg you guys would've had entertainment for your lunch break.

With my rumble top lane I've been going E-q-w-q-q-q-e etc. have started 5pots 2 wards and health beed. Then going back for boots and tomb. Then the first AP mask, giant belt. Idk know the names but mid game being 2nd level AP mask ---> slow enemy AP wand, then boots according to game/lane.

Thoughts?

Dyrus wrote a great guide for Rumble, I usually go e-q-w-e-e-r-q-q-q-q-...

Flame spitter really only comes into its own once you get rylai's/linadry's combo up, until then it is mostly a utility spell to helps clear waves and to make it hard for opponent to get up close and farm. You are too weak to really harass with q before level 6, so you want to get e up. e lets you last hit minions from far away, lets you get some ranged damage on opponent, and helps to disengage because of the slow, all things that are really good pre-6.

For items I like getting a defensive item to start so that you have some sustain against champs that are really strong 1-6 and then going for boots+haunting guise. Once I have those I pretty much always rush Rylai's+sorc boots unless you are getting really shut down and need a defensive item, like seeker's armguard. I am definitely not the best rumble player but I have playing him more than any other champ, so these are just the things I've found work for me.

So like Dorian shield or cloth armor to start then rush the mask and boots?

I tend to do something like that, unless you are against someone where the early move speed will be a big advantage. If I were laning vs someone like singed I'd probably go boots to start.

I'm at the point where I can figure out in loading screen who top is going to be or at least one of two champs. Who do you decide between shield or cloth?

Shield if they harass with auto attacks (kennen, cait) and cloth if they harass with abilities (zed, kha).

What Karak said, but if you aren't playing ranked the laning can be random enough that it is sometimes hard to tell who is going where. As you progress people will play more and more standard roles and it will be easier to tell, but early on it can be kind of a crap shoot. Cloth armor is probably best if you don't know but think that you will lane vs an AD champ. The problem with Doran's is that if you lane against someone who doesn't autoattack you, it is basically some really expensive life+regen. If you can't even tell if it si gonna be AP or AD it may be best to get boots+pots to be safe.

Alright thanks, this is Big help. Any clarity I can get is one less thing I have to sit and decide in game.

It seems like there are a lot of different opinions, though ewq seems to be more common than I thought.

that mobafire guide is just terrible, the full skill progression/item build is really bad

its weird that wickd would think eqw is the way to go but I think among most top tier rumble players its ewq. you can't fight with lvl 1 q and no points in w, its just not useful, I don't see any reason to go q other than add dmg to an early gank.

How do you stop the "team captain" from spamming "ALL MID!" and pinging retreats on everyone that isn't jumping at his commands? Like, when we're ahead, getting into an ARAM situation where they can poke at us from under tower and we're all lined up for Lux/Ez ult, what is there to gain? I'm not missing anything, am I? As long as we can have 3 or 4 of them keeping their whole team occupied, why do I need to be there when I can be pushing other lanes or jungling to get stronger? Sigh. Maybe this belongs in SoloQBBV.

most low elo solo queue games are lost when one person absolutely refuses to group with the team

like the very simple act of grouping past a certain point is just insane in low elos

As long as things are warded and you can see the other team, do your own thing. If you're a carry, make sure that you aren't the reason that you lost the previous skirmish. Make sure that you're there and in a good position at the next fight and it won't matter. And, put him on ignore if you need to.

Did you see how a) they got dived under tower and killed because you're the primary source of damage, b) one of them engaged like an idiot, predictably, as he's been doing the whole game, or c) the 3 or 4 of them got poked down by aforementioned Ezreal and Lux so much that when you did show up to finally team fight, probably at a poor angle because you wanted to get wolves, the fight was lost really quickly?

Sometimes the guy pinging is wrong, but I've found far more often the carry who ignores pings is wrong. Watch your replays and look out to see where your refusing to communicate won the game. Probably not very often.

Although in theory it should work the fact is that soloQ is full with stupidity and mentally disabled people and they will start fights 4on5. Just stay with the mentaly disabled and think like you are their guardian and you'll win.
Beginner/noobie questions Quote
08-05-2013 , 09:49 AM
Think of it this way, once they start pinging they have mentally committed to engaging, so you not being there means it is a 4v5 whereas you being there, even if there is a better objective, means they have a chance of winning at least. Everyone making a mediocre decision has a better chance of working than half the team making a horrible decision.

I agree with 'it's better to be stupid with your stupid team than to ignore them'. I'll reply to the rest later. On phone

okay I'm on my computer:

Firstly, I was talking about offensive pushes where we have near-zero poke, no hooks or strong initiation, not really strong/bursty enough to tower dive, etc....it was a very specific situation I was thinking of that had just happened when I made the post.

Meanwhile, there are two or three creep waves pushing into bot/top towers going unfarmed. No one ever wants to get objectives. They'll dive way past a tower 3v1 to chase a guy to get a kill when we have plenty of minions at the tower and can easily knock it down. When we DO kill 2 to 3 of them, everyone backs immediately instead of taking advantage of numbers or other opportunities. You know, all the stuff that basically happens in Bronze games pretty consistently =P

I take your advice for what it is, and I'll agree that if I'm the carry (or carrying, whether I'm "the carry" or not) I need to be there with the team. I'm not the guy that roams the map trying to get to 20/0 while leaving my teammates to die or ignoring winning strategy. I hate that guy =P It's great that you got 20 kills, bro, but you did almost nothing to help the team actually win the game. That's not me. I do a lot of the things that help win games that may not necessarily show up on the scoreboard and I understand that. I don't care about recognition or scores. I just want to win
