Lemondogs certainly have the pick of the challenger scene, they could form a pretty solid team.

I'm sure RIOT will have to make stronger rules around ownership and just buying LCS spaces so they can release players.

I mean why even have promotion/relegation when you just need to find the owner with the deepest pockets to buy you into the LCS?

I guess I'll rephrase my question with some info that I'm basing my knowledge on. When the LCS contracts leaked, I think it was for like 25K per player or something. I recall that coming up in the conversations had all over youtube when the stink about not streaming rival games happened. I guess I was wondering:

1.) Are there pros that are just "paid by riot" that are not affiliated with teams?

2.) Do the teams pay their players on top of these riot contracts? Or is it just the teams funneling the money from riot to the players?


I guess I was just curious if the players ONLY get paid through the team, and that riot only hands the team managers (companies) the money to distribute as they see fit?

Do teams that acquire outside corporate sponsorships pay their players more and are more likely to recruit better players due to higher salaries?

Good questions, I'm curious as to the whole process myself. I mean with sponsorships, contracts, and streaming what is a premier player like theoddone looking at yearly? And how much do streamers make in general? Do they get paid by twitch for the advertisements or by riot for playing their game? Is joe shmoe thats got 2k people watching his plat1 shaco only stream making any money?

Oddone probably earns like 100k from streaming, and when you add his TSM salary, RIOT salary, Prize money, and sponsorships its probably like 250k-300k, conservatively.

We don't know exactly how much people earn from streaming (especially with subscriptions now, with the streamer getting half of every $5 subscription). If you accept its $3 per 1,000 viewers per ad, and top streamers average like 20k viewers, which play aprox 3 ads an hour, $60 an hour doesn't seem unreasonable.

I don't know about Twitch sponsoring a team to stream on their site but its possible. RIOT does not pay people to stream their game (outside of maybe the featured streamer of the week?). Joe nobody with 2k viewers might be making $4-10 an hour but really I'm not sure many people actually know.
