Hi,

I would like to make a thread like this where people can get help on their sticking points, share their knowledge and learn new tricks.

This should cover other similar image editing apps as well, such as GIMP.

I consider myself at a beginner level and I use CS6 mainly for humorous and random content. I've used Photoshop for a couple of months and there are definitely times where I can't seem to get the effect/result I first intended and so that's why I like this as a thread. I also get a fair amount of PMs with questions about how I've done certain shops/gifs.

Please share images and ask for help on what you're trying to do - or share a cool technique you've discovered

I hope some veterans and perhaps even professionals will follow - and post in this thread.

Cheers

Did anyone tried to do some underwater photo color correction and if yes, could spare few tips/tricks/advices?

I have some taken with very average (honestly it's POS) camera and result is that 99% of pics have that bluish/greenish thing all over the pic.

For those who don't know underwater light color spectrum dissapear as you go deeper. First you lose red then orange then yellow etc.

I do the pics as RGB ones.

What I try to do is next (as layer adjustment):
- channel mixer (see from which channel I can "borrow" pixels for red channel and usually it's green channel). I increase green value a lot
- levels - here I try to "ease" all the "pinkish" I got from boosting green channel
- hue/saturation - not always but then I try to increase color values for some channels if needed
- vibrate - only if pic is alright after levels adjustment

Can someone share its own experience if he ever done something similar?

What is the best way to get photoshop? i cant believe the full version costs like $1k! I am a beginner and I wanted to do some online courses and experiment with the program, but that doesnt really seem possible when it costs so much before you can even get going.

you can usually do a trial version for free iirc. if you asking about not so legal methods of getting it, that can't be discussed here.
