Hi, Im new to this game and I would like to hear comments about a hand I played. This was a mixed MTT.

Is the check-raise after second draw ok? Or is it unnecessary?
I wanted to rep better hand that I actually had, and maybe get him to break his pat hand...

Thanks you for your answers!

i would lead on the turn usually and then decide whether to break if he raises. there are some guys i never break that hand against. once he 3bets its probably time to break though, so just get there.

If you checkraise he will call with a lot of hands that beat you, because a lot of people play 8's very passive and scared, and you'll probably lose another bet on the river. It's bad because he can 3 bet you when you are behind, and he can check and get a free draw to a better hand. Bet/call is a much better line.

Another consideration is the value of chips in a freeze-out tourney structure and how that subtly tilts your EV expectation of situations. Without the ability to rebuy, value of winning a extra bet is less than the cost of losing an extra bet. If you have two lines with similar EV in a cash game, the one that wins less but also loses less is better in tourneys. In this case, bet out because it costs less when behind.
