When cards run out in a draw game, the dealer usually shuffles the discard pile and deals the remaining draws from that.

It's fairly obvious, but not often discussed, that the EV of drawing from the original stub will be higher than that of drawing from the recycled discards.

This is particularly true in lowball draw games, because the distinction between "good" and "bad" cards is clearer, and similar for all players.

I'm looking to quantify this and figure out where it might be important strategically. But I don't want to reinvent the wheel: has anything been published or posted on this forum about it?
