Also I dare any of you to go to my linked badugi HL thread and tell me why I'm missing the charm of this wonderful game.

Seriously not everyone is going to like everything. But that one is just like.... Calvinball hand rankings.

Like the old joke about how a wildcat is only good once a night.

No one's trying to pull a ruse, and in context. I understand these are folks just making up games because they like to do so. They happen to also be hospitable to newcomers who want to join them so overall it's a fun time. And I like some of the "out there" games. Drawmaha 49 is growing on me!

However if I were trying to put together a visitor-friendly mixed games and loved all the 18 games in the mix, I'd probably try to rotate some of the more "out there" ones rather than play them all at the same time. Maybe 3 drawmahas out of 15 instead of 6 of 18.

I'd pick one "high badugi" game (hopefully hi-dugi) and put the other in mothballs.

Learning new games is really fun, but 4 hours out of a 5 hour rotation working with maybe a dozen funky hand rankings is a bit too much cognitive load to be tourist-friendly.
Actually I don’t think the truth is somewhere in middle. The takes on these games in this thread and others have been outlandish. First it was said they were rude and didn’t explain games. Then it was called a scam. 3for3poker and fossilman helped spell out the truth, and it was nothing like it was presented.

And “watering” it down to help make it more inclusive sounds good in theory but just doesn’t work.

People love Dramaha, so on a random Tuesday they are supposed to take half of them out to try and entice Billy Bob from West Virginia to take a seat? They don’t even know if a Billy Bob might be showing up. Most people don’t need to be in a Dramaha study group before sitting down and playing though.

But they get a decent amount of tourists regardless of Billy Bob. Game runs all of the time with a list. People can just simply choose whether or not to play

Coach is like the Salvador Dali of game runners and some y’all telling the man he needs to stop painting those melted clocks lol. Step aside and let the man do his work imo

Indeed, the first time I played, Coach met me 30 minutes before the game to explain the games that I didn’t understand.

Random note: we did have games like 7-card stud in the mix a couple times. Next year I'll try to pick some HORSE games for the mix.

I'm happy to admit I may have just had an outliar experience.

Next year I'll be try to get some games going that are what it seems a lot of WSOP players want.

That’s the beauty of it, everyone gets to pick a game and no one or group of people decide. But it typically doesn’t include horse games.

You are talking to someone that loves Stud high. But it doesn’t fare well in the mix. Several players will just use it as their bathroom break which is natural choice since they don’t want to miss blind games and super stud8 is popular. So what usually ends up happening is that the players that remain will get bored playing some short handed pots with no money in pot and the game will exit as soon as person who picked it is gone. Same with Razz. Even O8 got the “take this out?” convo going and I actually was the one to save it.

Twice I came in later into a game and when they changed the game one of the plaques was flipped over to show the blank side. In both cases it was Stud switched out to play Razzdeucey.

My advice is to try and start something separate whether it be at Paris or somewhere else. It’s just two different worlds. Bellagio might be a good choice as there’s already limit H and O over there.

It's that time of the year again. I'll be playing in this game some this weekend and next week. I see it run on PokerAtlas. Any word on what games they're doing? How's Coach doing?

Same 18 as last year at this time. Nothing has changed. Game runs 6 days/week, not on Sunday.

Game starts at one. Let me know if you want to try to get on the starting list.

I’ve been trying to get in the last few days and got shut out. I have tournaments planned the next few days, but I’d really love to play on Thursday if possible.
