I've heard that argument, but it doesn't hold water with me. The high card is generally the worst one in S8 as well, but the low has always brought it in. And I think the principle of a different player acting first in the first round of betting is more important. It even holds true for games with blinds instead of antes.
Also, I like that in S8 you can sometimes win a pot with a weak hand, by making others thing you have a strong one. In SS8, everyone generally starts out with a strong hand, so this can't really be done.
