playing some midstakes

4h, CO opens, BTN folds, in SB i 3b 2368-Q
BB folds
CO 4-bets, i call

1/p - 23678 - i check/call
p/p - i check and he snap bets

my initial thought is i generally would just call down with an 8 in a 4-bet pot (with just 4 players to the table). i mean i unblock a 9, block 2, 7, and 8 which i think are relatively key.

but my other thought is that i find it very rare for a player to just mash a bet in here vs what is a pretty strong range (i.e. i 3-b pre, D1'd, then i check/call pat flop), unless he's also quite strong. like i don't think a 34579 just keeps barreling me down.

what do you guys wanna do here?

Check and call him down. Don't let him use position to outplay you.

Too good to break too poor to raise now but I usually c/r after the first draw. Patting and checking you are advertising your exact hand as a bad 8 or a good 9

I would x/r flop. bet turn. and if it stays pat/pat then x/f river.
