6-handed game. No reads except I think the two players involved were solid from my past experience.

UTG folds
HJ (me): raises 86443
CO/BTN: fold
SB: 3b
BB: cap
we call

first draw:
SB: D1
BB: D2
Me: D2: toss 84 and draw 23

64323

action:
SB: bets
BB: calls
Me: raise
SB: 3-bets
BB: folds
Me: call

i blank out on my last 2 draws.

- Not sure if i'm supposed to try for the 86 low to start 3-way vs D1/D2 cap ranges. I thought it a bit odd that BB capped but D2'd. Should this have played an impact on my decision to toss my 8?

- Felt like raising on the 6432 was the right play IP vs a D1/D2 but not sure if good/bad

Any comments would be appreciated, thanks!

You drew to 643 instead of 8643? That is ill advised.

Even if BB drew 1, you can't draw to 643xx. That's the type of hand that you open from the BTN or defend BB against a late position steal. It's hard not to catch a "good" card that doesn't make a straight draw.

8643x can pat a 2,5, or 7 after the first draw and can make #6. 643xx is so much worse of a starting hand, no matter what opponent's ranges are.

The post-draw raise isn't great, as it's a bit spewy without pushing any discernible equity edge. But the biggest problem is not drawing 1 to 8643x.

thanks for the responses, guys. pretty much as i posted the hand i was thinking the same things (643, cards that hit straighty combos that make it tough for me to play as easily).

kinda felt i made major errors overall and glad to confirm it. think i instinctively was looking to make a 7 among the action. i did end up losing to an 865 lol

so my question, if anyone can answer: how does 8643x fare equity wise vs D1/D2 ranges?

(and yes, scotch, they do like to cap and go nuts with d2)

That's the work you'll benefit most from doing yourself, by plugging in the ranges on troutulator or galts motor
